What's the purity of the gold though? I read an old account of gold mining in Nova Scotia in the 1800s and the author stated that it was the purest gold he ever encountered anywhere other than one place in Siberia. It's a little over 98% gold, about 1.7% silver and less than 1% copper. That's between 22 and 24 karat. Over a million ounces have been recovered so far.

There's no arsenopyrite in these samples. These are from a newly found high grade au-ag-cu-PB-zn massive sulfide deposit primarily consists of chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite with minor pyrite. These samples contain free gold along the contact between cpy and quartz as well as in your sulfides as replacement elements. Pyrite will oxidize but not so much chalcopyrite at least not "rust" as it's a stable mineral it does not oxidize like iron-pyrite so you will see little rust colour and more of a golden yellow to an iridescent tarnish.

Hi mate. Another good video. Hey I'm just wondering if you know what all that yellowy-whiteish almost cement looking stuff in big clogs covering up much of the front (towards camera) at about 1:30 is? It looks very similar to the stuff on some of the large quartz rock samples I've gotten from my own property recently, and couldn't work out what is was. Thought maybe just fine baked in mud maybe, but it's quite hard and caked in there almost like part of the rock/reef so idk. Thanks. Ps: Do you ever do anything with the other minerals? Copper, zinc etc? Those look like not half bad bad copper ore there too haha. And you find gold amongst all that malachite? I worked in a copper, lead, zinc, iron mine laboratory for years and crushed thousands and thousands of rich ore samples... well as cooking them down and analysing them all on the spectroanalysis machines, recording and analysing the data etc. And it was rich ore but I don't think i ever recorded more about 3-6% gold content the whole time. Maybe about 8-10% at absolute highest. (Which just wasn't worth us processing for gold) So I always assumed such ore wouldn't be very gold rich at all and didn't bother with it myself for home prospecting. Maybe twas just the particular area/ore body? As I assume it'd have to be much higher % for yoi to bother with? Anyway thanks for the videos. And oll try to finally remember to hit subscribe. )))

These samples appear to be from a massive sulphide type deposit. The silvery metal given a couple weeks will turn more of an iridescent coloring and gold like color. This is chalcopyrite. There is silver, zinc and gold amoung the sulfides. The grayish looking mineral is actually an off purple grey. Galena is a principal ore of land and silver. Just wow! That is impressive . even you sound impressed lol. I know of some huge potasium feldspar crystal structures locally. Lyon mountain feldspar as they call it in books...the area is known for iron ore and granite. Alot of the exposed bedrock i know of is highly decayed and mineralized. And one can see quartz veins in alot of the areas i know....all rusty looking with alot of red and black and pink coating the surfaces. ..there is supposed to be no load gold in new york state and very little placer(and we are supposed to turn and silver or gold found over to the state...) But there are all these features here and a huge platinum/chromium nugget was found in my area in 1881 . I have even looked at maps of bedrock and have found that the adirondacks are a little node jutting off the main body of granite, which covers. From ontario and quebec up to the artic circle north and west/northwest it cuts across mannitoba , then starts nw in saskatchewan ,just covering the ne corner of alberta and covering both the northwestern territories and nunivut...so , does that bedrock connection increase my chances of locating a potential spot of interest? being as many things have been mines out of it from iron to uranium.

We try for optioning to junior mining companies or private exploration companies. They pay the best...like one claim can pay a years budget. Generally we option to individuals or small scale companies sometimes make offers. If we have something that's easy to mine and a really good grade well do it small scale. The initial fees involved aren't cheap for permitting, reclamation and the hoops you have to jump through are a pain. Last time we did anything more than a ton was 2.5 years ago we removed 8 tonnes @120g/ton gold and similar silver.

Do you always get gold with quartz?

New to this channel, but where is insanely large gold sample?

At the end of the video, he showed the lab results. Lots of high grades on the list.

Holy crap. 2 to 3oz per ton is pretty good if you ask me! Waiting for the day where I find the 40 oz lode lol.
@911mining5 жыл бұрын
Very good! It's not often we get into the 2 oz. range. Especially on grab samples...

@@911mining I know right! Still out there. I keep in mind some lucky Prospectors in Nevada found a 400 oz per ton lode. Gotta have dreams

Wow, all you would need is one ton of that stuff!

@911mining5 жыл бұрын
Logging company just owns timber rights, we own subsurface mineral rights. But logging company has a permit for road building

Nice video as usual. I have a question related to equipment, what kind of Jewellers Loupe/Lens do you guys use? I wanted to know especially if you guys recommend using more than 20x magnification.
@911mining5 жыл бұрын
Honestly we order ours online in bulk, anything works we have a 10x, 20x and 30x helps with looking at grain and crystal structure of the rock. We just ordered 10 of each magnification online, came too around $75 Canadian. From what I hear even Ebay has them cheap you don't need anything fancy as they tend to get banged up when your going about the mountains!

I use a 20x loupe, and bring a 50x or 100x frontlit pocket microscope usually. Anything smaller jiggles with your heartbeat. (I got a couple 50x for like $4 US each last year fyi)
