Still though, what they are doing is illegal. It is trespassing, no matter what. Depending on their visa, they may even be breaking international law. Just remember that when you see them sneak into areas not just in other countries that have security.

I worked at a huge warehouse where you had to get to the front door 1/2 hour before shift in order to walk back to the work floor on time. It was all one big ass building, but not the labyrinth this one was. The Fisher body plant in Detroit was an awesome place to explore but it’s completely protected now. There are probably good video of it.

yeah, welcome to factory work, I don't work steel, I work in silicon but it takes 15 for me, 20 minutes for average walkers to get from the factory floor to anywhere to eat in the office area. Lucky for us break doesn't start till we are exiting the factory floor so maybe 10 minute walk from our machines to the gownroom door after taking off our gear then another 10 minutes to get to our locker and desk to eat or the cafe and risk the food there. I can't imagine working in a steel mill like my dad did, that work was brutal and hard on the body. Biggest risk I face is toxic gas leaks, acid splashes, electrocution, or magnetic radiation, maybe RF radiation if a magnetron leaks. Meh, beats burning to death in a vat of molten steel like my dads coworker.

Copper thieves have already been there from the looks of it. That 'snake pit' is probably leftover sleeves from very thick wiring, the stuff is all over the ground near electrical panels and such. Copper theft is a big thing is Europe and some thieves take great risks (cut live wires from railroads etc)

Dj Djero fun fact: the german railway uses its fibre cables (which run along side of the rails) to detect theft. By looking at the way the light in those fibres gets reflected back into the transmitter they can even pinpoint the location to 10m accuracy. If the system determains the source of those reflections to be thieves then an automated theft prevention system calls the local police instantly.

I used to have a nice chair i found in the middle of warehouse. I was working security and sometimes getting away from the monitors and sitting in the darkness was a nice break. Plus I could stop and just listen for add noises. Caught a scrapper once, but he ran away and that was the end of intrusions into my property. It was an old lumberyard that had a huge 4 bay drive thru for loading trucks. It went under in 2009 and was in receivership for almost a decade. I took over the site in 2016 and worked it off and on till 2018 when I got promoted to over night mobile patrol. Working overnight security is awesome but also can be freaky if you have an over reactive personality or are suffering from mental health issues.

this is an absolutely amazing video (part 1 as well)! what fascinates me most about these industrial places is that humans actually were able to construct and plan those complicated buildings, plan them on paper, and actually build them. with so many aspects in mind; planning and building for so many years in advance; and they actually worked and were worked in. It really is mind boggling.

One of the most compelling adventure videos I've seen. I particularly like your professional camerawork and narration. You handle the material like pros which makes viewing it very intense. Over the years we produced numerous environmental justice documentaries for broadcast but the equipment has improved since then. We worked with a Canon XL1 which is no longer used for video. Our venue was Cable and Public TV whereas you now have KZbin. Things have become more compact and accessible which makes documenting the kind of material you do a lot less hassle. I like your style and look forward to seeing more of your videos.

Thats why if you carry anything questionable on you while trespassing always hide it near your way out unitl you leave for sure. That includes any souvenirs. Dont get caught with it on you. Also have an accomplice on the outside that is a quick phone call away to drive by entrances on the perimeter. If you are suspected of being on the property then security or police will try to wait you out at known entrance points.( Especially at night) they will sit in their car with the lights off until they see movement. I got stuck on a property many years ago all night long. A few off my freinds got impatient and went out the back of the property and were met by a small army of police with patty wagons. They had been waiting us out in their cars.We didn't get caught. We had to bail them out of jail the next day.

Imagine the staggering amount of money it must have cost to build that place. I can't believe they let is stand there rather than dismantle and recycle. The money that could be made from the steel and parts must be astronomical.

The money returned from scrap like that is always not worth the time and effort involved, which is why you will always see the easiest to remove, and most expensive things removed by the owners, and the rest left for thieves working on their own time. If you had free machinery with free servicing plus free power/fuel and free food and drink coupled with free accommodation for your volunteer workforce, then yes you could make money off it.

I was at a foundry auction last year and the lot with all the metal forms and other misc stuff that would end up as scrap sold for over $350k. And the ladles and stuff at the auction I went to look smaller than the ones in this video. I believe it might be worth it but the problem is these sites tend to have a lot of hazards and idk the rules in europe and how they restrict that. The place I went to had enough silica sand to make a small beach. Sad to see that plant close after being there for over 100 years.

Actually its a issue now cause people sneak in to steal metal and sell it. The site is on watch day and night until upcoming dismantlement.

Awesome explore !! I would have had a field day in that place wandering around until I exhausted all of my batteries or space on my memory cards. How long would you say you spent inside this explore compared to your typical explores?

Probably about 4 hours. We've done longer before. If we weren't so on edge we probably would have stayed longer and been more thorough.

This is why you really need to be careful about Urbexing. If you just so happened to get completely trapped, this would have been a huge fine on your end and not to mention, you would have been lucky workers were there.

If there weren't, I'd say it'd be easier- there's plenty of odd equipment lying around to make a suitable hole in a fence somewhere. The issue is with workers around, that's quite the ruckus.

The massive pots are called ladles they go under the furnace once the impurities (slag) is dumped out the good liquid steel gets poured into them. They’re layered with brick on the inside so the steel will pour out. I work in a steel mill
