Thanks for detailed tutorial. Is it required to take the blower unit out in order to replace the heater core?

Man I think it's easier to change the engine and transmission than to replace heater core and aircon components!!! :)

Why is oil added to the evaporator because there is oil in the compressor? Is increasing oil in the compressor positive or negative?!
@InsaneOil
@InsaneOil 3 ай бұрын
I am not an HVAC expert. However, there is a specific amount of oil running through the entire system and if you remove/replace a piece of the system, it is necessary to add oil to replenish what you "removed."

Cant i just cut away junks of plastic to get to it rather than keep things pretty?

Is the compressor oil quality pag46 or pag100?!
@InsaneOil
@InsaneOil 3 ай бұрын
I believe it was PAG46 www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/certified/a-c-pro-certified-pag-oil/int5/p46uv/v/a/134750/automotive-suv-2016-chevrolet-traverse?q=compressor+oil+pag&pos=1

This video is really well put together. Thank you! Do I need to take off the dash if i'm only replacing the expansion valve or can I stop at taking out the glove box components? Edit: I see it is unnecessary, my only remaining question is what sort of oil did you apply to the evap coil rubber rings when you installed the new expansion valve?
@InsaneOil
@InsaneOil 4 ай бұрын
I used the same oil I put in the system.

I think it was this www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/certified/a-c-pro-certified-pag-oil/int5/p46uv?q=a%2Fc+compressor+oil&pos=0 if I remember correctly.

@@InsaneOil Thank you. Last Question I'll bug you with. Do I need to disconnect the lines running to the Expansion valve in order to remove it? As in, do I need to remove the lines from the engine side of the car, in order to get the expansion valve off of them. How much give is in those lines I guess is what I'm asking.
@InsaneOil
@InsaneOil 2 ай бұрын
@@corncob4627 If you are only removing the expansion valve, you can disconnect those from under the passenger side inside the vehicle and there is enough room to get the expansion valve out.

Outstanding video! It must have taken forever to get all those different camera angles. Your explanation and graphics make everything really clear. Thanks

Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated. I think the filming took about 18 hours if I remember correctly...that doesn't include any editing.

Ok so I’m halfway through this process right now to get a new heater core installed and I’m wondering why exactly the blower unit comes out first and In last. As far as I can tell it should be able to go in right before the dash goes in so there’s enough space to get it in easily.
@InsaneOil

Your thought process is valid. My original thought with this vehicle was to replace the expansion valve (which requires removal of the blower housing). After that part didn't fix the issue, I continued on to the Evap Core. I understand what you are saying but mentally can't visualize the process you are talking about to say for sure.

Thanks for the video. I need to replace my heater core, but I don't want to take the whole dash apart to do it. Is there a way to replace the core without doing that? It seems accessible, but is it a situation of being so close yet so far?
@InsaneOil

I do not know of a simple method for removing the heater core. It is not a very good design from the maintenance/repair perspective.

There's a video on youtube on how to replace a heater core on 02-06 Camry without taking the dash out. Look up a channel called Fix It Angel.
