Welcome to Sohyang's world. Your pronunciation of her name is good. Sohyang is an independent artist due to faith and health. She is a cancer survivor who has battled for many years with recurring bouts of pneumonia. She has been singing for over 20 years and is quite a bit older than you might think, being about 36 here. While she was a CCM/gospel singer for some years she really jumped more into the spotlight when she went on I Am A Singer and Immortal Songs 2. This performance was from 1S2. The past couple of years she has been on Begin Again Korea quite a lot. I dont think Sohyang and Dimash have same style. When Sohyang focuses on using healthy techniques, Dimash loves to show off colorful techniques. Both are excellent vocalists but isnt the version of each other ^^

The Bill Withers song you alluded to is "Lean on Me". Sohyang's version of "Lean on Me" is like nothing you've ever heard. Michael Bolton added her as the featured female vocalist on his Korean tour after hearing it. She also has great recent live performances (2020-2021) including "I will always love you", "I'll be there", "If I ain't got you", "I won't give up" plus many Korean ones including her own "Stay". We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. As with all the songs she sings, Sohyang is responsible for the arrangements. The only reason she is not a household name all over the world is because she’s not interested in fame/fortune, all the big record companies have tried to sign her up in the past. Bingo! Yes, it's branding, marketing, and in the USA (I'm American and was a performing singer/musician for almost 60 years so I feel free to say this.) Somewhat like brain-washing! So Yhang is a spectacular artist with millions of fans outside of the USA. Same goes for Dimash, Morrisette Amon, and Hua Chenyu. These people consider themselves to be "Artists" first and foremost.
