show this to your friends the next time they say charge blade is complicated PINNED CORRECTIONS: - Long Swipes can be used in really short windows, such as headturns or situations where you don't want to be locked into the endlag of Upswings, so it's not completely useless. - Super Backflip is marginally more useless since you can replace it with Double Lunge if needed as a combo finisher - use as a positioning tool - Triple Up should be maintained at all times; Double Up is just worse and you can easily maintain Triple Up with Extract Hunter as mentioned - but also just use Triple Up. The buffs are great. - Upswings loses the first hit if used immediately after a roll, but is faster and has less endlag. - The requirements for Windchopper and Gullshad on the Kinsect Tree is incorrect - it should be 70 Speed req., not 140 Weight.

for some clarification, 3:45 - Always triple up. In multiplayer it's especially bad as instead of tripping everyone to death, you will be tripping to death without the super armor and it's just flat out better than double up. This only changes when optimizing for planned kill times. 7:20 - phero shot is generally useless but in specific cases it's used to make getting the last extract easier if a specific monster part is above hunter height level. Generally it's best to just wait for the right move to gather the right extract in these cases but it can rarely be used as previously mentioned. 9:50 - the hit pattern of twirl is your left, your right, center. The first two hits have especially small hitboxes and while the upward reach is ok, the forward reach sucks thats why its so janky and requires you to be in essentially DB range 10:10 - Poke see's specific use when twirl is not a viable option. This is mainly used if you need a quick move to cancel out of and if it creates a flinch you can roll out of it fast or loop it back into sweep or double swipe into twirl anyways. Poke mainly lets you "poke" when it generally should be the monster's turn which no other move can really do. 10:27 - The forward momentum can be used for unique situations and its a great way to finish up a combo or opening on a monster and just great for super short longer range openings with forward slam. It's generally how you want to end it if you were doing anything more than walk up>twirl. Also great for super short windows as its quicker than sweep>finisher 11:34 - Backflip should never be part of a general combo and never really be used in general outside of very select cases as it's essentially a self forced disengage 17:21 - you lose the utility of an actually good roll as a quick positioning tool and roll>twirl as well meaning aerial ends up with LESS mobility than other styles. 36:45 - saying ig was solid in 4u is an understatement since it's generally considered almost tied with GS to directly under GS as the 2nd best weapon in the game hands down. The MV cuts with gaining nothing truly game changing makes it land directly in the middle of the pack not on the upper end of the middle. I would say something like SA is upper middle or barely on the verge of breaking into higher up weapons. -walk up twirl is so freaking strong and you can add more from there, bread and butter -you can back flip from double slash OR forward poke not just double slash. -sweeps are great for starting up twirl if you need to use a low to the ground hitbox while waiting for a monster part to move into twirl range. ex teo legs or zino backlegs -forward slam can also be used in unique chip windows such as head turns like on zino where every other move will miss head -roll into twirl exists and it shortens up twirl but it has less endlag and a faster start up/overall animation due to losing a hit -you can hold an extract in your kinsect while waiting for triple up to expire and you start with a free extract of your choice. You can time this by looking for the flash on your extracts. -IG doesn't have set in stone combos besides infinite combo which you will rarely use because windows like that will rarely happen where geometry or movement doesn't neuter it. It's a very situation and window dependent weapon for what you want to use.

I appreciate this video purely for the kinsect stat sheet. I'm pretty sure this is the only video on KZbin that goes over what the different kinsects do in GU (and before anyone say it, Gaijin has a video on the kinsects in Generations, not the ones in GU where most of the bugs have different skills and traits). This guide would've been very appreciated 4 years ago when I did a kinsect-only run of the game. I'm also the one weirdo who actually likes striker IG. I like implementing the bug into my hunts and this style was the best at it by being able to charge your bug while attacking (although, valor style exists and kind of invalidate this style but striker grew on me after my kinsect-only run).

If you sheathe or recall the Kinsect while it's carrying a extrac then walk into a load zone it will apply. The only exception is if you walk through while it's just flying next to you idly.

This was a really nice guide, I feel like IG is really underrated in this game so hopefully this gets some more people to try it out. Only thing I’d disagree with is that for anyone wanting to use elemental glaives, I’d recommend not using either of the ones mentioned for fire. Agnaktors glaive has terrible raw and a lot of affinity (which the IG can easily get with speed kinsects). You can’t easily get attack boost and crit boost on the same set, which is why lower raw glaives lose out when you do the calculations. The best fire glaive is one of the metal rath glaives, depending on what set you can make with them. Propogation has 20% affinity which reaches exactly 100% with a speed kinsect and weakness exploit, and it has 30 more raw than agnaktors. I was able to get a stronger set using the dragonebula though, since it only needs sharpness +1 to get usable purple, and can therefore fit in more damage skills.

12:23 with white extract and if canceled into an attack, you can loop the forward vault over and over to move faster than sprinting with your weapon sheathed, and if you have a stamina recovery bug or skill, you can repeat this sequence so long as you have white extract to move around the map faster than anyone else. This works because doing an aerial attack allows you to begin regenerating stamina midair, and landing with an aerial attack allows you to cancel into another jump quicker than landing without an attack. The only downside is that your angle is difficult to control compared to just running, but in a straightaway it’s the fastest movement technique in the game.

The biggest issue with IG in mhgu for me was trying to get extracts from monsters that are too tall. Wtf do you do if it takes 2 min to get red?

Useful guide! Didn't know the exact damage of the linking attack or that RO double up++ was actually pretty good. Also WHERES RUSTRAZOR IG RECOMMENDATION?
