I've been experimenting with Insects a lot recently too. My initial playtesting had a list *very* similar to this, but after hundreds of hours testing, it morphed into a more high risk, high reward strategy. It's still similar to this, but plays Assault Roller, Beetrooper Field Spell, Beetrooper Fusion Spell, 2 Scale Bomber, 2 Scout Buggy, Cicada King, Absolute Hercules. After going through dozens of combo lines, I've not found a second Resonant Insect to be almost entirely unnecessary. It doesn't come up enough, and if when it does there's always another line that is almost as optimal anyway. I do play the very risky 1 Battlewasp Wind though. But with these changes, I've found I can extend through far more interruption, more consistently chain block (which you mention), while still having 12 handtraps (not counting 1 Retaliating), and its end boards are more resilient. But you're trading this for a slight hit to consistency. I've also considered just going over 40 and adding 2 more Supply Squad. Getting to the Fusion monsters is now super crucial, especially Cruel Saturnas (which is partly why I'm playing more Beetroopers). Being able to bring back Armor Horn when it's banished by its own revive effect, is what more optimally allows ending on Stag Sovereign. It also puts Armor Horn back in GY to use its effect next turn for more free extension. One thing people never except, is Grand Partisan getting its effect when banished from GY for some reason, and with Armor Horn, Beargram, Fusion Spell, Mantis Monk, Assault Roller, there's many ways to do this. You don't mention it, but a mistake I've seen some people making with Insects from a ruling perspective as a Judge, is that equipping Bio-Insect Armor with Picofalena will not banish the equipped monster (or itself) when they leave the field. So worth noting that.

It baffles me how they made made a flawless adaptation of Mako's deck to meta but not Weevil when he had some of the most fleshed out strategies in the original show literally just make a Zombie World but for Insect and an Insect Queen that can negate by tributing Insects from EITHER field

I'd recommend cutting Almiraj, and probably S:P too. If you drew only Resonance Insect, link it off with Almiraj, you get the search, but think about what your search targets are: BW Rapier needs you to control no monsters, or only insects, and you now have a cyberse on field with no way to link it off. Supply Soldier can't special itself if you have no way to activate another insect effect. Bio-Insect Armor does nothing in hand, and Beargram needs you to have 2 more insects to banish to summon itself. Maybe going second you can search Beetrooper Sting Lancer, but then you're putting Resonance back in deck and not getting the search from banishing it. With only two copies in main deck, the scenario just does not come up often enough, and Almiraj hardly ever fixes a hand that bad. Instead, you can use Cicada King for the negate and revive effects, and or Ultimate Great Insect, which is more situational but combos with Bio-Insect Armor or Picofalena. I would also recommend running the Beetrooper Descent fusion spell instead of Instant Fusion, since it is easily searchable and allows you to get both Saturnas and Heavy Cavalry out in the same turn.

If you swap the scale bomber and the spell for scout buggy you can put cikada king on the endboard which is also a negate and a reborn for any insect. Scary moth could be a target post side

Scout buggy is just too much of a brick for the pay off and you can use rapier's level drop on arbelest to make cicada king

Drop the bottom 6 or 4 hand traps and play more Beetroopers or extenders. You always need more bodies in a deck like this.

Combo video? I also rlly love the landing, not for the fact that it’s a good card but for the fact that it accesses saturnas is rlly strong. I’d also play double buggy and cicada king with them tho.

You can use the giant moth fusion with bio insect armor also. It's very good. Infinite antlion is also great for abusing resonance insect. The banish two 2800 attack insect should also be played.

I didn’t realize that the exclusives were out, this is not too bad, but by far the best thing you can be doing is playing scary moth. The only issue is that, well, this deck is always getting cooked by evenly or ANY board breakers. On interrupts alone it’s decent, but not being able beat board breakers due having 0 negates is just too weak on a format that Tenpai being a top deck.

Thanks for the profile! Also building this right now. I think Arbalest is at least a 2-of: The reborn on normal summon is not once per turn so you could potentially pull it off 3 times to keep linking/synchroing. Best target is Ragnaraika Samurai Beetle, so I’m trying to make lines that foolish Beetle alongside Gokipole with Diabolantis so you can summon Arbalest, reborn Beetle, link for Mantis, and then revive a bug as synchro or link material off of Beetle’s effect (Most likely reviving your Resonance Insect to get another search). You’re right that it plays really bad into Mulcharmys. Maybe it should just be a going second beatdown strat, then? Playing breakers instead of handtraps, and taking advantage of normal spells for Thrust targets. Beargram enables that strategy, Battlewasps do burn, and maybe even the new Heavy Poly being used to cheat out the huge Beetrooper fusion could do some pushing

Arbalest isn't really worth running multiples. You can recycle it back to deck with Picofalena if you need it on other turns, but it can't special summon itself and you need to have targets set up in grave for it. You basically never want to see Arbalest in your opening hand since you search it out with the other Battlewasp cards during a combo.

Insects have way too many good cards that it gets hard to decide what to add without hurting consistency, but some cards to think about are Dragonbite, Ultimate Great Insect, Praying Mantis, and the Krawler package. Dragonbite gives you a level 4 tuner that special summons another lvl 4 or lower insect from your hand and level manipulates by banishing. Ultimate Great Insect allows you to contact fusion an insect with a 2000 or higher defense that is equipped. This can help trigger effects that you want without needing to link off or whatever. And it is a pretty big body. Praying Mantis is to have another target for Resonance Insect to send to the grave as it gives you a token by its GY banish effect. The Krawler package is to have 3 bodies (Krawler Soma and two level 2 Krawlers) on the board with only sacrificing 1 monster being placed face down.

Praying Mantis is probably the easiest to include, and he could easily cut Bio Armor Insect. The token comes up so much in combos and its so easy to send it to grave.
