Exactly what I was looking for! I work in a CVICU and we don’t see many balloon pumps, but if we do they are usually already inserted elsewhere before they get to us. Thank you for the demonstration and demystifying the process!

Do you need xray for placement verification prior to starting the balloon pump?

It always bothers me when you have to face away from a critically ill patient while doing your charting. The fact that the computer is fixed to the wall and cannot be swung around so you can chart while facing the patient bothers me. Otherwise, great educational video! Thanks for posting.

Some of the sterile technique needs improving. Generally Good though. Any person RN, Tech, whomever assisting or 'circulating' must never have items hanging off or around their necks - a great way to inadvertently or unknowingly contaminate the field. Microbes can drop onto the field - particularly stethoscope ear tips etc It would never happen in the O.R. it should not happen ANYWHERE else either. Just take that kind of gear off and set it aside in a safe nearby location.

Good input. Watching this to learn, I appreciate them talking through the procedure, and as I’m not in the medical field I’ll forgive any mistakes they make if it mostly follows what happens. Glad you said it was partly a good video!
