This is a very clear demonstration of inserting glass eyes into a vintage teddy - I found this really useful, and now will repeat your easy-to-follow instructions on my own teddy bear. Thank-you.

Wonderful video! When pulling the thread stands though the back of the head, do you have a technique to keep the stands from the first eye separated from the strand of the second eye so they can be tied together evenly?

Do you have to double it before inserting it into the eye? Or is that only if you have a thin thread? I had a very thick one, so I was wondering if that was even necessary

Where is a good website to buy the different size glass eyes online? Also, I was able to find the correct needle but I had no luck with the heavy thread. Could you describe the thread in more detail and recommend where to buy it. I loved your video, it was very well done.
@amazingcraft12545 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, you can buy the eyes at www.amazingcraft.co.uk and we use Guterman Top Stitch which is a very strong thread (you can also buy this at www.amazingcraft.co.uk). Basically, you want the strongest thread you can find (some people even use waxed dental floss!). Glad you found the video helpful and happy crafting! Kind regards, Becky

@@amazingcraft1254 Just FYI I've heard that dental floss deteriorates over time.

@@JenniferBurrellCreationsByJDB Thanks for letting me know! I hadn't heard that. I must admit, I'm a big fan of Guterman Top Stitch :-)

what size eyes did you use on the first teddy

Hi there, I''m not 100% sure as it was a few years ago but I think they are a 10mm. They were medium topaz glass eyes (you can see them on our website at www.amazingcraft). Hope that helps :)

When I do this my eyes are able to come lose. What is keeping them from pulling out until they reach the knot? Is the stuffing holding the double knot in place or what? I’m just a little confused on how to keep the eyes secure. Thanks!
@amazingcraft12546 жыл бұрын
Hi Olivia, thanks for your message and I'll try my best to help! At what point are your eyes coming lose? Is it before you've tied the knot? Kind regards, Becky

Amazing Craft Nevermind I figured it out. I’m not sure what I was doing wrong originally, but I tried it again along with the video and it worked. Thanks!

Hi.I am new to bearmaking. Do you have a video on embroidering noses. I am struggling to get this spot on and it's spoiling my bears!

Hi Lisa, apologies for the delay in responding, I've only just noticed your question slipped through the net! In answer to your question, I don't have a video yet but is definitely something I hope to do in the future. I'll definitely upoad it to KZbin once filmed and I'll try my best to remember to message you too!

My big teddy bear eyes was sticky and I don't know what is that on the eyes. Some white colour sticky things can't wash off. So I rather change a new eyes for my big bear. I found this is useful and I want to give it a try. Buy a new pair of bear eyes and change the eyes for my big bear. Thank you so much :)

I just want to thank you for making this video. If it weren't for you I wouldn't have been able to restore my vintage 1950s Steiff teddy bear. I am one of those types of people that can't barely sew a button on a shirt and your directions were very easy to follow. I did a variation of what you showed. Here is my bear's before and after: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q561q6WibNBjq5o I put a link to your video in my description. If you want me to remove it I will. I thought others might find your video useful. Thanks so much!!

Thanks so much for your kind words and we are delighted that you have been able to replace the eyes in your vintage ted! Let's hope this is the start of a glorious journey for you and poorly bears!

@@amazingcraft1254 Thanks so much for your reply. I owe it all to you. I am so thankful I found your video. If you did not put it on KZbin, my poor bear would have had those ugly plastic button eyes for as long as I owned it. I would have never attempted to repair that bear prior to seeing your video, You are awesome!!
