As i coachbuilder for 13 years i can confirm these bespoke build are FRIGGIN expensive. The hours involved with designing and building these things is mindboggling. Those shutters are a PITA especially when the office staff order the wrong size shutters and you have already built the vehicle 😡 you then have to make the vehicle fit the shutters because havent got 6 weeks to wait for the replacement... bad times when paired with the bespoke shelving that pulls out on rails which needs altering to suit. We built a twin deck Firefighting unit as a curtainsider that could carry 8 IBC units that could be individually tapped into to the internal pipework for spraying all sorts of retardants for every type of fire it even had it own forklift (moffett) on the back. To this day ive never seen a forklift with a its own blue light on top of it since :D

Many American fire fighting organizations don’t realize that whoever designs these trucks have the ability to make them smaller and simpler. Europe has smaller firefighter trucks and still provide the same level of response
@alphabravo424 Жыл бұрын
Following what I have seen in Germany, the reason why they have smaller apparatus is since they have RoRo (roll on roll off container trucks/ swap body) trucks but it's true smaller apparatus can be used but in reality it's the preference of the department
@hunterasbury6529 Жыл бұрын
I’m probably the only Gen Z’er on the planet who can still read paper maps, and actually prefers them over GPS. Google maps can run out of service, and even physical GPS consoles can fail. Maps don’t have batteries that can die and don’t have to have a connection to a massive and complex system of satellites.
