Fullboost a $500 e gas barra engine could of made this power with valve springs alone.why are u wasting your time with this 1980s engine that is about to blow up?

magic mush the stock bottom end internals can't handle much more than 600 on the barra before it becomes unreliable and breaks. The block itself on the Barra can handle more than a 2jz block although the internal parts in the stock 2jz bottom end are stronger than those of the Barra. Guys just face it the Barra is not this miracle engine like the Chevy LS you can just put big fuel injector and turbo and make over a thousand hp on stock engine internals.

Grouse video as always... but why rather than make corrections just cut ignition in the event of a fuel pressure drop? Like shut the car down completely and possible save an engine? Strange when you are paying all that money on an ecu to still have it kill motors

@@SomervilleMetalWorks a couple reasons, one is due to the mechanical fuel pump, fuel flow is drastically increased with rpm. The other is we also knew it was going to surge from previous data, hence our "loose" tolerance on fuel pressure delta before a cut comes in to avoid false trips as it has driven and corrected through that brief moment in the past. The cut came in before anything critical happened. You can engine limit over pretty much any run time. Sorry for the confusion it was a one take shoot and its a little nerve racking 😬 There are many ways to skin a kat. And none were harmed in the making 😎

Holden with a Nissan engine . . . was this a thing back then ? Did it come from factory that way ? Were Nissan and Holden getting in bed together ? I always assumed it was a popular engine swap before the LS came into the scene and became affordable.

The VL is the only factory car to use a turbocharged version of the RB30.

When the VL Commodore was made the old Holden straight 6 was outdated and didn't meet the legal requirements for unleaded fuel so they used a Nissan engine (RB30E and RB30ET). But only for this model, the VN that came afterwards had a Buick 3.8 V6.
