Inside A Captivating 1860s Brownstone Home That Cozy With Contemporary Art Collection

The Greenwald-Largent townhouse, an iconic 1860s Italianate brownstone nestled in the Brooklyn Heights Historic District, underwent a comprehensive transformation. Commissioned by the chairman of a prominent record label, alongside her husband and children, the project meticulously balanced elegant entertaining areas, cozy family quarters, and a showcase for their impressive contemporary art collection. The outcome is a sophisticated, lively, and luxurious residence perfectly suited to its discerning occupants.
ERA meticulously restored the historic front façade of the house while opening up the rear façade to enhance natural light and strengthen the connection to the garden. The classically proportioned rooms and architectural details harmonize beautifully with the luxurious modern furnishings. Special attention was given to selecting a tactile and sophisticated palette of materials throughout the house, creating a rich and engaging dialogue between the traditional and contemporary elements.
