Very interesting. I really appreciate that you guys take the time to diagnose these problems. Are you planning to come up for a fix for this? Ive been lucky so far on my 2011 3500 not to have death wobble yet. Ive been running your ball jionts and intermediate shaft bushing for just over 5 years with no issues

My 4th gen has done it 3-4 times. Nothing gets you ready for it hababa watching your video i wish i could make my truck do it. To inspect it further. Camera under etc

I need to replace my 3rd gen steering box. Do you have one you recommend, and will it stop death wobble?

It probably won't solve death wobble. Theres a multi million dollar industry selling parts to stop death wobble. As far as I know, no box manufacturer has adressed the issue yet. We've had really good luck with Cancraft as far as boxes go. We dont run steering stabilizers and have found death wobble is one of the following -trac bar bushing -sloppy drag link -loose pitman arm -bad axle u joint - a bent or warped rim . If you didnt have death wobble and you rotated the tires ,then suddenly get it. Check the tires Just because a tire has been balanced doesnt mean it can't cause it. look for excessive weights on the tire. -a bad tire, hey lets face it, manufacturing has gone down hill, new tires can cause just as much problem as old tires. - poorly worn tires This comes from -bad ball joints. Brand new OEM ball jopints will wear a tire in 10 km to the point they can cause wobble. Make sure you rotate your tires. -bad tie rod ends -shocks -not rotating the tires -a bunch of other small things - a soft intermediate shaft bushing -worn control arm bushings (usually needs something else as well) - in my case a broken rear leaf with bad tires (not rotated in 40 km ) and a bad u joint There's more, but anything i didnt mention needs at least two or three other things compunding to set it off. A steering stabalizer helps slow it down and prevent it. However it also covers up something that is wrong. Now cue in "my box brace fixed it" If a box brace fixed your death wobble and made your truck "steer" better, it's because it was incorrectly installed. It's pushing upwards on the sector shaft and causing memory. While it's creating memory, which prevents the hydraulic flutter and wander, its also causing lash bind in the box. This takes out the bearings on the shaft and strains the pump. It also causes leaks. A box brace should only prevernt side load on the shaft. Correctly installed you should never even know it was installed. Unfortunatly few people know how to properly install them, then brag to everyone about how much better it steers. It's called memory from bind. I'll do a video on this.

Excellent explanation of the issue, however, this wobble does occur a standstill when the steer wheel is pulled in one direction and the suddenly released; you mentioned that this condition only occurs at speed or in motion. Great video though. I wonder if Dodge is paying attention....

It doesn't happen in the 3500 at a standstill. That's the 1500 I think with electric assist.
