Thank you for these bathhouse interviews. Reminds me of my time in Toronto, spending my weekend nights in long, dark corridors of Steamworks or St Marc's (closed a long time ago). Miss those days! Coming from a third world country, the bathhouses were a Godsent heaven for me. It was my only outlet after a lifetime of living a closeted life.

I enjoyed this interview! It’s my first time listening to the perspective from someone in management. I applaud his approach to managing focusing on customer service with staff and customers because I heard more feedback about staff rudeness in other vids and have witnessed when I’ve been many years ago. As part of cleanliness, remove the carpeting- thank goodness because that will retain moisture and bacteria 🦠.

Been at this place many times. Agree with owner that they try to keep it clean as possible. I never had bad experience with they stuff good costumer care. Yes I would love to see jacuzzi or sauna but I'm there for other reason.😂 Sometimes is just to many guys that I am not interested at...or guys who just like to sit and watch stuff but not interact but this is not related to the property responsibilities. It's just the crowd....

I think that's why some have started up with bringing in well known DJ's and having theme nights as opposed to "business as usual." So it's almost starting to become "club-like" so at least here in Seattle it's an after hours option being in such close proximity to ALL the clubs, bars and restaurants.

Where do you go to get tops? I thought that was the general gay dilemma that most are bottoms?
@queerlyuspodcast
@queerlyuspodcast 6 ай бұрын
I find larger cities with big gay communities seem to have a lot of bottoms. I think that's just because this breed of gay man is out and open and accepting of himself. Not that tops are closeted, but someone who is not as open about their sexuality might be more reluctant to bottom cuz of the physical demands and the stigma

Chicago had a very well known Bathhouse called ' Man's Country,had plenty of entertainment,porn stars and also had a sun roof .I used to meet friends and meet new people.Chuck Renslow was a political leader and influenced the government .Sadly he died and it closed.

Seems like a public health concern. Nothing homophobic, simply think that BOTH straight and gay sex-themed venues should be zoned out and not allowed. Totally fine if people want to have orgies or whatever @ their own homes. But businesses shouldn't be allowed to profit off of public health hazards. We learned that during Covid-19. Same thing.
@queerlyuspodcast
@queerlyuspodcast 5 ай бұрын
Oh I couldn't disagree more. These spaces are important for people to feel safe. Bathhouses were some of the first places to address Covid and Monkey Pox and most have community outreach programs around HIV. Sex is always going to be a risk, whether it's at home or a bathhouse.
@TwinFalls88

@@queerlyuspodcast okay, lets carry the analogy futher. people refused to wear masks and got kicked out of establishments. shouldn't people in bathhouses also be kicked out for not wearing a condom? Otherwise, you're basically as bad as the anti-maskers.....
@TwinFalls88

@@queerlyuspodcast Are cigarette companies mandated to advertise the health risks ? Bathhouses should be treated the same, have a disclaimer posted on the front door with Health Department's current STD rates in that area. Peoples' right to know. Government's right to regulate. & My Right to call and lobby municipalities from coast to coast lobbying for them being grandfathered in and zoned out.

@@queerlyuspodcast Ever heard of [ Randy Shilts ] ? He valiantly lobbied to shut down Bathhouses in S.F. and succeeded during height of 80s HIV outbreak. Because of him - COUNTLESS LIVES SAVED. A true hero and real role model for the queer community ! He was literally spit on by people in the Castro district. Sad. People that do the work to make things better never get the recognition or credit they deserve

@@queerlyuspodcast No. Not "on special nights". That's B.S. Separate but equal ? Are you kidding me ? Should be allowed in the same hours and days as all the men. Period. Let's be inclusive, not exclusionary.

@@queerlyuspodcast btw..... the only reason you defend this, is because you're getting PAID $$$ from these unscrupulous corporations that own the bathhouses. The CEO gets rich, and you get a cut. Everyone else just gets endangered.

Watching your bath house reviews and interviews, it definitely seems that only a large city like Chicago or NYC can have a successful bath house. Akron, Ohio has one that is small and a total dump. Even the Flex in Cleveland, Ohio is not very good.

It's true the bigger cities have more cash to throw around, I guess unless you're a chain like Steamworks then there's also a standard to uphold... even in a smaller city like Seattle
