As an architect, this is a perfect example of a home that is both modern and nostalgic. I've never seen a contemporary Filipino home that feels this homey 👏🏼

Wow, finally a modern take on a Filipino home that blends tradition with sleek, contemporary design. It’s on a level that can definitely be compared to some of the best in the world!

When I first saw the thumbnail, I immediately thought of traditional Filipino homes. Then I noticed the architect and wondered if it might not be Filipino, but it turns out it really is Filipino architecture lol. The solid stone base with wooden elements on top was a dead giveaway. The tunnel through the house for car drop-off also reminded me of the traditional design, where there used to be doors, but the main idea was still to have an enclosed area for picking up and dropping off homeowners from their kalesas or horse-drawn carriages.

I'd like to share that during my MRT commuter days, I had a habit of buying back issues of myhome magazines. This was my way of seeing great sights on the ride home when there was nothing special to see outside the train windows. Year of Nokia 3210, if you're curious about it, so, there was no chance of mindless scrolling. You felt ecstatic at every image as you flipped through the pages and joyfully inspired even after navigating your way out of a sardine-packed MRT. It is the same feeling here. It's just oohs and aahs for me at each turn. So many elements in this house to behold. What a beautiful grand space. Thank you to this young man for opening his fantastic home. Please continue doing great at what you do and this channel, too.

It was not a need during precolonial time nor now (unless you're from a rich family in the city or a business person) because the lakes, rivers, falls, springs, and seas are common spaces and walking distance.
