I lived in a high end community like this for about 10 years. The rules/HOA, lack of friendly neighbors (because they were too busy working, traveling), got old. We left and live on 20 acres in the country on a home we built ourselves. I can even walk outside nude and no one will see me. That’s what you call freedom.

@@peachylover4598 , LOL. Nope, I’m the most grateful person imaginable. But I resist fake “religious faith” because it insults both nature and nature’s God. There is no god who puts entitled people in happy places while the less fortunate dwell in less pleasant places. To think otherwise is to worship false gods who benefit only ourselves. It’s a wondrous and wonderful world once we get over believing the gods want special people to have nicer, better experiences than the “less fortunate.”

I live in Vegas and have been into that community. Vegas is notorious for gated communities. Its a very transient town with lots of sketchy people coming through. Even lower priced communities are gated. Its the norm here and not a big deal that this documentary makes it out to be.
@miguelgonzalez6213
@miguelgonzalez6213 7 ай бұрын
Yes and no. Its not a big deal until you realize it does keep the crime stats down. I have heard there was short spike in burglars and thieves sneaking through the gates, or posing as cleaning crews to get in, but lately that seems to have been quelched.

Have you lived in HOA and had bad experience? My first home in US is HOA. None of the restrictions bother me... like lawn has to be mowed everywhere which NON HOA houses should do too. No playing very loud music after 10 pm, which non HOA home shouldn't do or may be put the headphones on, not having fence in front, which I am okay with because with front yard fence it feels like I am entering penitentiary and not home. All of the homes doing same thing in the area makes it looking pleasing to eyes. Personally in our surrounding area NON HOA homes are pretty well maintained too but only thing I feel it takes is just one bad neighbor.

My in-laws lived in an upscale 50+ gated community where truly there was no “community”. Too many HOA rules for me. I mean, ridiculous amounts of rules ! I told my husband I think there’s less rules in prison. Every house looked the same, no cars allowed parked in the driveway, you had to have exactly 13 APPROVED plants in your front yard … etc etc. I had once thought of moving to one of these. Nope. I changed my mind. I now have 5 acres, and can grow anything in my yards, not spray for dandelions and pretty much do what we want. No rules.

Safety in a gated community is very much in your head. I worked as a dispatcher at a sheriffs office and for 911 and I’ll tell you from personal experience that you are no more safe than anyone else. If someone wants what you have, they will get it and if they want to hurt you, they will. Criminals always find a way and they don’t care about the rules, or the old fart on gate duty. The domestic violence, boyfriends & girlfriends of divorcées and teenagers with too much money and not enough attention make gated communities their own little reality show. If you like it, then that’s awesome, but you are not more safe. I can tell you though that it makes it a LOT harder for the, police, fire department and ambulance to get to you when the codes aren’t updated with our agencies.

@@jdmccoy1999 Criminals like low hanging fruit too. It is going to keep out anyone but the locals. There is an order of magnitude more security with a gate guard than a codebox. Especially when you can buzz 10 houses and SOMEONE will let you in. That trick won't get you past the gate. Gate guard can also see if someone is REALLY carrying a pizza or food order. And can open the gate for a police car. I bet their security team is at least 40-50 people. If not significantly more. But even a codebox with a lot of cameras does a decent job of filtering. That is what my condo has. That one in NV looks to be mostly older folks though, a more upscale version of the Villages.

Think the costliest home where we live is around $850,000 or so( About 3 bdrms,,). We are seniors, our rent just went up to $1600.00 per month, for a 1309sq ft, 2 Bdrm 2bath 44 year old home. Still high for a mobile home in most other parts of the country. But, if you go look outside for at least a one Bdrm in a good Long Beach neighborhood, it's over $2000+ or so

I lived in gated communities for most of the last 36 years. There are many of those with reasonable priced homes ($400 000) or less. The benefit for a single lady like me is that no one can harass me, no one can highjack my home while I'm traveling, no one can come to my door stealing my packages, no one can sneak in at night and rob me, no one can pest me to recruit me for Jehovah's witnesses. I don't need rec facilities, have rather my own pool. All of this for $80 HOA a month. What's so bad about that?

This argument can be used on you. Do you give to charity? Do you go without or with less so others can have it? The device you're using to watch this video, why not give it to someone else less fortunate? The place you live, let someone live there and go stay in a tent outside. Limit your food intake so the hungry can have more. You can criticize the rich but the same argument can be used on everyone. We can all technically live more frugal and give extra away. Unless you are seriously going without all luxuries (you have a device with Internet access so I doubt you are) I wouldn't be so quick to criticize. Its hypocritical.

@@vixxxenfoxxx3660 LOL there is a big difference between letting someone less fortunate live in your home while you live in a tent, then to those 2 or anyone like them for that matter having WAAAAAYYYY more than they need. Do I give to charities? No, instead I keep my eyes and ears open and I give to actual people in need, that way the person in need gets all of it. Many charities are registered in places like Delaware and they are only required to donate 5% and get to keep the other 95%. I'm not saying that people don't deserve nice homes or vehicles etc. I'm just saying that people like that having WAAAYYY more than they will ever need make me sick. The last time i checked although barely holding on, I still have the first amendment.

In my early childhood I lived in a what would be considered 'nice safe area and environment' (my parents were working class and 'no way' 'rich'. - just to make that clear). In my later years ie teens I lived in what I would call a rough area, 'you know those areas, were people are proud to tell you "I was born and bred here". Completely the opposite environment to my childhood years. And it is this sole personal experience later in my early life that made an impression on me. Which was whatever was in my power, never to live or surround myself with individuals who did not have the 'normal' given social skill to interact correctly with people or respect the environment that they and others lived in. (we see it on street corners and down dark alleys to this day - dealing drugs, burglaries, wheeling and dealing and just anti-social behaviour- which is clearly choice). I do not live in a gated community, but I also see nothing wrong with them to a degree (but personally think a 'better area' would be a wiser choice over gated). People may describe it has 'gentrification or segregation of classes etc', but it is not. It is just 'choice'.(the same choice that a thief or anti-socially raised individual has made to continue living that same lifestyle and in that same area/environment rather than break away from it.. My early experiences made a massive impression on me, and I 'chose' not to live within that kind of environment that 'attracted' the same. So if individuals want to live in gated or security controlled areas, to make them feel safe or they just want to live in an environment that is kept clean and respected by like-minded people...what's wrong with that!???. The french guy in this video had his family property stolen and violated by scum that crept out of it's street nest hole. So whats his wrong doing by removing himself and his family from that. We all have choices, just like we 'all' know 'right from wrong' and 'good from bad'. This is not about those we call rich or wealthy , it's about putting yourself in an environment you feel comfortable in mentally...and there is nothing wrong with that.

If you have a problem with this... perhaps you have never lived in a dangerous place. Trying to shame the rich for ensuring that they don't get robbed is crazy to me

Yeah if you’re living in Las Vegas you definitely need a gated community because all neighborhoods are filled with thugs and criminals

That’s a lie! I live here, most people don’t live in gated areas! When you have good neighbors, and we are a community…we use protection!🔫

Note, no thank you! If i had the money to buy whatever house i wanted, I'd have a nice cabin in the Colorado mountains with no bars locking me in. Also, no rules telling me what type of plants i can plant and when to take my lights down

I live in Myanmar's gated community. It's just safer, although we don't have traffic jams for guests.
