Thanks so much Sean for taking the time to explain all of the wonderful things about your vessels. Your on-camera delivery is excellent. The automatic gain control on your camera is giving you audio issues but the video is great. thanks once again. Mark USA

Wow! I'm also happy you feel that way! This is the reason why I make videos. Thank you and take care!

I'm amazed at the spaciousness of all of the decks of the engine room. I'm used to seeing military steam ships that are just cram packed with plumbing for the steam equipment and barely any room to move. This ship-you could have a big party in the engine room!

Yes, that's one of the advantages of a VLCC, it's really spacious. Thank you for watching!

Texaco decided to sell two of our best ships to Onassis. On arrival at Port Arthur the main boiler was to be opened up for a Class Survey. Our C/E a big, kind and rather fat Scotsman went in through the manhole to inspect the water tubes. The boiler was still very hot. After half an hour his fat body swole up in the heat. We tried hosing him down but the water was too warm. His big shoulders and belly were jammed in the manhole and not wishing to break his ribs we could not get him out. Then suddenly he popped out like a cork out of a bottle! The Fiver had turned up both forced draught fans to High Speed. The C/E bad mouthed the Fiver but I think he had saved his life. A ship is a very dangerous place. In 8 years we lost 9 men. Drowned in oil in the pump room, suffocated in the E/R control room due to the day tank on fire, crushed against a tug whilst leaving the ship in heavy swell off Cape Town. A ship is dangerous, never forget.

Very interesting to watch vlcc engine room although i'm working on bulk carrier ships. Most of the parts you have shown are also in bulk carriers but there are more that don't exist. Thanks friend , i'm still waiting for a video about G/E and Aux.Boiler. Keep it up you're doing well.

I enjoyed your all parts and got alot of information, but actually I was waiting for the transmission system of the ship like our regular vehicles has!
@SeanLentze3 жыл бұрын
That would probably be on a different video because the series is a tour and I made it to be as simple as possible. Also, I need to study so that I can explain a ship's transmission system like a pro haha anyways, thanks for watching!
@omkarsonar8563 жыл бұрын
@@SeanLentze I would love to have tour of that transmission system, because I am a Mechanical Engineer and loves Mechanical field so much
@SeanLentze3 жыл бұрын
@@omkarsonar856 I will do my best for that! Your suggestions are noted!

I thought the lowest deck would be a lot more spacious so that was surprising. Anyway this really inspires me to be a 4th engineer on VLCC, Is it difficult being a 4th engineer there workwise?
@SeanLentze3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your senior officers onboard, I think the amount of work and responsibilities are all similar no matter what type of ship you're in.

3rd part of your vlogg,but you don't mention your rank/postion,are you shy of your position?how many crew comprising your Engine Dept.?the entire number of crew onboard? Your cargo,grt? etc.have a safe sailing.
@SeanLentze3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, those are personal information that is not related to the niche of the video. I also plan on making a separate video about that :) If I were shy I would not be vlogging :)
