Man my school isn't abandoned but my favorite part about the school was the school senior murals painted on the wall. But unfortunately they painted over the walls with the senior class on it.

The dentist chair--I know someone who is in their early 60s, he mentioned that the school he went to, which was all 12 years, had a dentist office and students got free dental care. Something that would be well served in today's age! In the boiler room, there was something that said it was replaced in 95, so we know at least that the school was still running in 1995. It always amazes me when I see videos and photos of these abandoned places, mostly schools and asylums, how little human damage there really is. One of the first rooms you were in, maybe it was the first one we saw in the video, all the glass light fixtures still hanging, and all the spare light globes in the janitor's office. It's almost like there is an unwritten code that you do not destroy in such a places.

@deanwinchester33563 жыл бұрын
Same. I get the same feeling and I’m unsure what it is. Not sure if it’s maybe the feeling is “sonder” or what. But thinking about how the place was cared for by the staff, teachers coming in and preparing for their lectures, teens roaming around their lockers and the halls, hanging out with each other at lunch or crushing and gossiping with others. And their dreams of finally graduating and moving on... it feels sad and snotty when you see the state of what the school has become. The energy and ghosts left from this school 20+ years ago gone and forgotten. It’s hauntingly beautiful and nostalgic. We sometimes forget how much time and emotion we spend in school as teenagers. Way more than our home lives.

3:49 - that cannister from the Civil Defense was meant to store water in Cold War-era fallout shelters. It is 17.5 gallons because they figured 1 quart of water per day per person for a family of 5 would use that much in 14 days. Bonus - once the water was emptied from the cannister, it had a secondary use as a commode (toilet).
