I saw this bird last summer at AirVenture Oshkosh 2023, it was an amazing airshow. The thunder from those RD-33 engines reverberates through your chest! Great performance and aerobatics, the G's must have been something to experience in the back seat! They did formation flying with a Mig-17 at the show too! The Mig-17's afterburner is quite unique with it's pulsing flame vs the Mig-29's smooth flame with thrust/mach diamonds extending outward.

The MiG-29 is fast and agile, with good looks to back it up. Don't kid yourself, American fighter jets are better. Better radar and missiles, better flight characteristics, better overall performance, more durable engines, less maintenance, more dependable and serviceable overall. @@devilsoffspring5519 You likely live in another reality or compare different things. What truly excels about American aircraft (and indeed all weapons in general) is the cost. But not at all in characteristics. Radars (For example, you can compare APG-63, 66 F-15, F-16 and N001 or N011M Su-27, Su-35. Or N019 Sapfir 29 for MiG-29) and missiles, if comparing between the USSR and Russia, they always did better. America still cannot build supersonic weapons, while Russia has been successfully using three of them in combat for a long time. It's hard to call it more reliable. The statistics are sad. Recently, another F-35 crashed. By the way, if we take the same F-35 that you call the 5th generation, but it can only maintain hypersonic speed in boost mode. Don't laugh... Expensive, yes. Better and more reliable - definitely no. Russian weapons like AKs are cheap, but they always shoot... And the overhyped patriots and abrams with all NATO did not cope with their task...
