I don't live to far away from Westcliffe. There is an Amish bakery there too. The Amish from Westcliffe come to our Farmers Market during the summer and sell their baked good. I enjoy talking to them. There's also Amish over in Alamosa, CO.

I was in CO in 2018. The Great Sand Dunes Natl. Park is a MUST SEE ! Westcliffe is close to that.

I live in NE CO and had no idea there was an Amish settlement in our state. I used to live in northern IN and really enjoyed the Amish culture in the area. Their workmanship is high quality…I’d love to buy some of their furniture someday.

Absolutely, might be a little drive from NE CO but you have several small but nice communities and Amish stores. The furniture has a great rep overall

It is a treat to just gaze around out there, driving along there always seems to be a mountain or range or other interesting feature popping up here or there. Living out there I imagine you get used to it after awhile...but maybe not

Thank you Jean! True this was a quite modern-feeling store. After looking over the footage umpteen times I finally noticed the outlets in the walls and light switches so I believe it is tapped into public electricity (I added a note about that in the vid). Some Amish stores are like that, one I visited in VA recently had just agreed to allow it in the store (but not homes)

Yoders in Colorado? This is a surprise. Although I've heard that many Amish are expanding communities westward because of eastern English over-development. Beautiful furniture & a good sturdy investment that will last decades. 👍

I went to an Amish market last year. The furniture store has quality products, but I wasn't crazy about the designs. A few weeks back, I went to an Amish furniture store in an outlet mall. It was much larger so they obviously had a much greater selection. I was impressed by the designs of the furniture. The Amish market had furniture that seemed like it was designed for Amish families. Good quality, but plain. The store in the outlet mall had more commercial designs. It's an hour and a half from where I live, but it is definitely worth the trip when I'm ready to purchase furniture. The outlet mall is on the decline though, so I hope the store survives after the mall closes.

You are right you will find quite a range of styles across Amish producers. I've found they make just about any style including quite modern ones if you find the right builder.

Not to be critical but I don't understand why the Amish churches do not allow community to generate electricity for themselves by wind or water power,. Or am I ignorant? Would they not allow this as it makes things too convenient and maybe lead the Amish into sin
