Inside an electronics factory - how PCBs are assembled

Looking inside an electronics factory at how tiny surface mount electronic components are soldered onto PCBs in mass production, at a factory in the UK.
Fairly detailed look at the whole process of SMD assembly but not much else. Looking at robotic pick and place machines from the inside as they work. Includes some indoor drone shots beacuse why not, and it's been either too windy or raining the whole time since the last video.
I'd like to do more manufacturing things/how its made/industrial videos probably despite this one seeming to take forever.

Good video. PCB pick-n-place machines are hypnotic. Wish someone would do an ASMR stream of one running full speed :)

Pretty good video. The only thing that is cut a bit short is the inspection after soldering. For high quality manufacturing, usually every PCB not only goes into an AOI (automatic optic inspection) machine that takes a lot of pictures and compares them to a good sample, and shows the operator every spot that the machine thinks is a failure. But with more QFN, BGA and other leadless packages usually there is an extra x-ray machine that looks "thru and under" the components to check for invisible voids or bad solder joints. And i agree, the music is a bit too much present in the mix compared to the voice-over, and it's not really needed at all to keep the video interesting.

A really interesting video. I did my City and Guilds in the days when discreet components were used in the likes of TVs and Radios, so it was interesting to see the process now used - all very clever! 🤓

This was a nice change of scale from the giant infrastructure tours with the drone, to something I'd struggle to see with the naked eye! The classic "how it's made" series was one of my favourite things to watch - so this was a lovely trip back to those memories as well.

You didn't mention that some pick and place machines will test the components before they get put on the board and bin them if they're no good.This used to apply to more basic components such as resistors,capacitors and diodes that were picked up by a small set of jaws that were also the contacts to test them with.

I know Europlacer do it as an option, and some other makes I forgot. I feel like that would be very useful to verify set up when running a first off or after a reel change.

@@martinalooksatthings It's at least 25 years since I've worked on an SMD production line,so things will probably have changed by now.The only real difference from above is the solder paste was applied by hand using a silk screen.
