Absolutely love this style of presentation. Clearly explained design process, material and purpose without sounding academic. The presenter established great comfort with the audience, no pride, no pretentiousness, just a conduit for information and allowed the design to speak for itself. A stark contrast to a lot of videos that reads like a thesis, by the end no one knows what the layout actually looks like. Very nice!

@@tranzco1173 considering you’ve made 11 pessimistic or creepy (“wine moms are AWESOME”) comments on this channel, it’s obvious this style caters to… different people. To the thinkers and makers. The curious people who question “what if”, “how to”, and “has it”. It’s just odd you have repeatedly subjected yourself to things you don’t like 🤷🏻. But hey, do you.

When he stated that leave enough room for other creative's hands to touch the project and put some of their own minor twists on it that really resonated with me. The goal of an architect shouldn't be to express just their direct vision but rather to express the best vision possible for that project/client. I wish more firms practiced this way, It would make for much more interesting houses like this one.

The most perfect word to describe this house is “Honest.” Anyone with an engineering background appreciates the how of things, but knows they are too often covered by facades. There is so much to love about the intentions of the homeowner/architects and contractors that executed the project. The only thing I take issue with is that the elevated the foundation of the home several feet higher than the neighboring home and set up a deck on that side so the neighbor has no visual privacy into their home or their yard, and the fact that the new home is so much taller/broader than the home it replaced, also likely changed the amount of direct light that neighboring property has now. I know everyone can purchase a home with multiple acres but I wish more consideration was given to scale/light, etc. of surrounding homes - and offset the damage with landscaping that provides a buffer or something, at least.. I have a friend that owned a single-story home - on a block of single-story homes - the lot next door was sold, and the home was torn down and replaced with a 2.5 story single family home. Not only did she lose all privacy in her yard, the lack of sunlight in her yard post-construction actually killed her plants and required a new landscaping plan for a yard she no longer enjoyed using. The worse part - the new homeowners got in over their heads financially on the build and never lived in it.
