Thanks to Federico for giving us the tour in English. Not as easy as you might think if you're not a native speaker.

Omnium makes very cool cargo bike especially for those who love to take their dogs or little kids with them cycling. I like the fact it's front loading so you can always have your eyes on your loved ones.

I stumbled upon this place during a trip to Barca. The sign at 7:39 jogged my memory. It was a cool shop. Very friendly, even with a ton of tourists coming in to kick tires.

"Traag" is also dutch for "slow"... So no, not all cycling in Europe is training/racing or commuting. There is party-pace in between. 😀
@Josukegaming11 ай бұрын
yeah it's definitely less common here finding that middle ground ATB party pace in the Netherlands than it was in the US for me, but it's definitely there

When you get to my age, all bike riding takes place at party pace 😂

Hey Laura & Russ, I can't help but notice the heavy flicker in all the shots in this vid, are you still shooting in NTSC framerates (30/60fps)? Spain and all of Europe use a 50Hz power grid, so you need to shoot in PAL framerates (25/50fps) to get rid of that. Maybe your camera also just defaulted back to NTSC and you know about this :) Anyhow, this can be quite unpleasant for photosensitive people, so I thought I'd let you know.

Russ being a real American. Americans love labels, alt bikes, basket packing, etc, sounds like they just have “bikes”. Haha 🎉

It's actually an interesting microcosm of how quite different the markets and culture are between North America (and most car-centric countries), vs. places that managed to retain/develop bicycle transport as part of their daily life. In car-centric North America, a significant, overwhelming portion of the market is focused on high performance sport racing machines - lightweight super aero road bikes/gravel bikes and extremely durable enduro mountain bikes designed to withstand trails better suited to motocross, among others. In an environment so heavily focused on sport, lower intensity/recreational/commuter/travel/all forms of noncompetitive cycling - aka the "partypace" - can't help but exist almost as a _counterculture_ to it. Thus, all the labels necessary to separate/define themselves against the overwhelming sporting context - "alt bars," "basket packing," etc. But in places like in the video where bikes successfully got to be retained as a mode of transport instead of transforming entirely into sport, the culture doesn't seem to need the labels to differentiate what a bike can be used for, as the noncompetitive cycling use is much more vibrantly still in the public consciousness/market. Thus, "alt" bars aren't "alt", they're just bars; "basket packing" isn't an activity, it's just another way to hold things on your bike, etc.

I've honestly never seen a shop with such beautiful wood floors and antique rugs and armoires. And how do I get a "race for shawarma" poster!? Or maybe for me just ride for shawarma.

Hey Rus Love your content. Keep it up. As a cyclist who has only bought 2 bikes brand new (most of the bikes I've ridden have been 2nd hand). At 57 years of age. I'm looking for a new frame. When you look at the world of horology there are brands like Rolex who started by making a practical tool better. My question is who's the Rolex or Patek Phillipe of the practical cycling world?

It’s sad to know that people in Spain (1st world country) are also concerned about bike theft/robbery, and I say this as a brazilian who lives in São Paulo and thinks twice about every route he’s going to pass through. Guess it’s just a worldwide big city issue, not necessarily poverty/underdevelopment relatated.

Same in London, there's regularly people on expensive road bikes getting targeted, then knocked over by people on mopeds to steal their bikes... 😢
