I lived on Rockland St until I was three, my family was all over that neighborhood, there were even Gypsies throughout Roxbury as well as the South End. There was the Dale St Tavern that was directly across from where McDonald's is. Rockland was a through street to Warren before they built Warren Gardens. Roxbury Mall is a dug out hole. There were red brick apartments and stores from Walnut Ave to Townsend St. Nothing but houses through out the Bower St area which is where the mall is now. Have to cut this short too much to tell.

I truly recomend you go to lawrence when you come to mass next. I can name you multiple places where it looks more hood (strictly cause people are complaining about that. Lawrence, holyoke/ springfield, brockton, and new bedford for mass. Lawrence is really the bronx of massachusetts. Youll understand when you go, and people from the bronx are aware of lawrence cause they often have family there. Ill also mention places in rhode island and connecticut, since theyre new england as well. For rhode island, id recomend central falls first, then pawtucket, and various place in the south and west side of providence. The culture in rhode island is very interesting. It has similarities to mass, but also a lot of its own stuff. For connecticut, id recomend waterbury, hartford, and brudgeport. Those neighborhoods in boston are 100% the hood. But as boston started getting gentrified after 2008, the hood shrunk, a lot of people moved to the places i named, and the city put a lot of work into making projects, schools, parks, sidewalks, and streets and stuff nicer as far as looks go. The modern day hood in boston reminds me a lot of the modern day hood in dc. Theyre comparable if youve visited both places. The violence is up and down.there have been A LOT of big ricos in the past 4 years in boston. This part of boston was very dangerous in the 80s through 2000s. Regardlessly, theres still gun violence, drugs, crime and poverty all through there. You can easily get inti trouble, and a lot of people are on section 8. However, if things keep trending the way they have, there will hardly be a hood in boston, aside for a few projects. The hood will entirely move to the other cities i listed.

@@kodakblowup those cities are further broken down by ethnicity typically. Lawrence is almost exclusively dominican and puerto rican. It's over 80% Latino. Brockton is majority black, mostly cape verdeans and then haitians. Springfield and holyoke are puerto rican. You'll see. The area is kinda self segregated. The hood in boston is cool. They have their own slang and a lot of history, including malcolm x living in roxbury for a long time, which is shown in the beginning portion of rhe malcolm x movie when he was a criminal. But there's a lot to check out elsewhere too. It's too bad there's so much hatred in the area. I think it's cause the region never got its shine, and the rest of the country doesn't take it seriously because of it. I'm not from the hood. I'm just from the area and have traveled the area and the rest of the country a lot. I'm very knowledgeable on cultural specifics to regions. I could name way more places for you. That's the projects, but there's also a lot of standard east coast brick projects too, similar to philly and nyc projects, like mission hill, Franklin field, heath street, and a bunch more, but those are a few examples.

I grew up in Massachusetts, I've lived in probably 15!different towns and cities by now but watching these vlogs is pretty cool. Black white or brown, poor or middle class we all did the same as kids and teens. Kind of funny the only difference is what we decided to do after the first time we got into real trouble or did drugs. Some of us decided to live better lives others keep repeating the same shit. Sad.

It’s mad funny being from Boston but living out in places like KC and Cali and realizing how soft Boston is and the murder rate difference compared to other places is way less. Mf said they in the trenches and live in nice ass lookin townhouses/condos
@frankheston87225 ай бұрын
That’s because Boston is one of the whitest cities in the country therefore less crime, lower murder rates. Those other cities welll you know

Their “hoods” are so clean and pretty. I love seeing the kids at the park while these grown men pretend “it gets crazy out here”. Boston is so cap.

That's funny. As someone from 10 minutes north of where this is, Roxbury, Dorchester and all those areas are filthy pits. What you're saying is true about California and Florida, not Boston which is in the northeast where EVERYTHING is old and shitty looking lmao

This shit ain’t a hood, it’s a housing project. Very safe neighborhood. Learn the difference. It might get crazy SOMETIMES, but it’s not a warzone. Been living up here 6 years, boston can get wild and they pop out, but you gotta be looking for the drama
@DanielPerez-qy9vr5 ай бұрын
Exactly! Mfs who are from out of town expecting to go into certain neighborhoods and see mfs wearing flags om corners.. shit is not LA
@Heyyoulady5 ай бұрын
Lies. Boston don’t care about drama. Look for drama, there will be no reaction bc no one care nor will they entertain you.
