It's people who are products of their environment. Being gangster seemed cool because you never had to live life like that. People who are in gangs don't want to live like that but it's what they know.

in around 2011, i ran into Millyz handing out mixtapes on burned CDs in Boston at Hempfest. People don't understand, he's really been grinding a long ass time. His success wasn't overnight, or luck. I'm happy for him, hes as real as they come. We used to take the train in to North Station and skate / BMX the city, then take the train home later in the day. Round trip was $7.50. What a dope era, ill always remember it

Boston was crazy in the late 80’-90’s during the crack era. Come full circle now and it’s the dope and I’ve experienced that first hand as an addict who spent time in Dudley Mass Ave. people don’t know Boston has very big minority populations like Haitian, Cape Verdean etc. and some of these neighborhoods been gang banging for 40+ years. It’s not new here just the new generation. Boston is an amazing city but it gets busy like any other urban area. Also some of the cities in MA like Lawrence, Lynn, New B, Brockton are the trenches as well. I know they’re going where Millyz tapped in but would love to see H Block, Heat, MHP, Geneva etc. on here. Ayy and shout-out Dudley my bro used to stay off Warren and we spent a lot of time out there, on kitty two white kids you were gona see late night in Dudley. RIP Joey. Great episode 💪🙏💯

You’re certainly not wrong but certain places will never be safe. Every states got trenches and MA def no different but as for standard of living, education, healthcare, what most normal people care about is here too. I’m not normal people though so I’m gona stay in my lane 😂

And Bostonians ruined their city with politics and now is moving into Providence, RI buying up property and taking the train back to Boston for work. Providence was the 8th highest rent cost increase, beating Boston at 9th. They run from the city they ruin, and bring their politics with them to ruin another city. It caused me to move out. The good thing is, the demand for homes because a lot of Bostonians are moving in just brought my property value from $300,000 to $398,000 in 2.5 years.

I grew up in the outskirts of Boston in the suburbs my whole life with my aunt uncle and cousins but my mom was constantly moving around so I was always switching schools so I experienced everything especially when I started running around the streets. I am far from a gang banger but I have met a lot of people in my 39 years and I have to say that living in Dorchester a couple times that Dorchester definitely has its hoods. There's streets that you just don't go down unless you're driving through not bothering anyone. The one dude I went to school with moved to Dorchester and was the head of one of the neighborhood gangs. He ended up shooting his "best friend" in the head and back leaving him paralyzed for life for dropping out of the gang. On thanksgiving night too. Dude said if I didn't see it with my own eye I would have never thought he shot me he was a brother to me. The dudes in jail serving life and from what I've heard he already had a body or two. I only found out because I searched him on google years later because I always thought he'd end up doing something crazy. He was a skinny ass dude but he was an absolute lunatic even just in elementary school. Crazy how I knew he'd end up with a murder charge just from going to elementary school with him 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@devonforsure260not a lot of opportunities in those neighborhoods honestly. Thats the whole issue. They had a study in boston on the wealth disparity between the black and white neighborhoods. For the white neighborhoods the avg net worth was over 200k for the black neighborhoods it was only 8 dollars. Not 8000 or 800 but literally 8 dollars. Its an expensive place to live and not a lot of means for ppl working a regular job to get the training/education they need to make the improvements they want to see in their lives. Ppl gotta realize for the ppl who get sucked into this lifestyle it starts at childhood and by the time their old enough to carve their own way they often already messed their life up to the point where they feel like they cant turn back. Its hard enough making it out these neighborhoods even if you dont get involved in that lifestyle. If a teenager gets sucked into that way of living in boston its basically a wrap for them

I would say most places are that across the United States - also many people don't care to identify themselves as gangsters just regular and simple folk who lives everyday living and just so happen to take care of business when necessary. Not everyone is trying to identify or be labeled as gangsters. At the end of the day, people do what they do to strive and support themselves and their family. Just my perspective and general perspective.
