I love the variety Julie. Lucy Boston's story and the quilts were especially nice. As I turned 65 this year and consider retirement from my current field in the next few years...Lucy's story inspires me to prepare for the next 3 decades of adventure.

Indeed, those quilts and that gramophone playing were an absolute treat. Very touching and it showed a human aspect instead of just expensive objects on display

The porcelain in each of the castles is breathtaking, and my gosh the quilt works are pure artistry! I am certain we will all have our favorite, our pick of these 6 astonishingly beautiful castles. For me Deene is #1. Thank you for this grand tour.

Mmmm... After beginning to read the second voyage of Captain Cooks' diary, Lord Sandwich's name is mentioned a couple of times in the letter addressed 'Introduction to the Second Voyage'. The letter was dated in Plymouth Sound on July 6, 1776. 😊 It was written by Captain Cook. Lord Sandwich is assisting with the organization of the two ships 'Resolution' and 'Adventure'.

I enjoy seeing a smaller historic house like the manor at hemingford grey shown! Have you considered doing a full one of your episodes there or at similar places? The aerial views showed some spectacular gardens and more on the history of such a place and similar small homes would be a nice contrast to the large estates you go to.

I would hate to have to choose between the six of these houses for a No1 as they are all so beautiful with varied important presentations. If I'd had the chance to do more houses when I visited England in 1987, I would have been in my element but Blenheim castle was the choice & it was super spectacular!! Then we finished by visiting Windsor Castle which was thankfully before the fire. In fact, I was only home in Australia about 2 or so weeks before that terrible storm passed over & much of the south where we had mostly been was badly damaged with a lot of the large oak trees blown over from New Forest & other places we had visited. My father's paternal family had hailed from Devon & Cornwell & arrived in Australia in 1852. my grandmother on my mother's side had come out as a 12 year old girl from Brighton but her family 2 generations earlier had come from Denmark. The major part of my history is Northern Irish & Scottish from the western Isles.
