Each morning I scroll through my subscriptions list to see what's been published since yesterday, I get a little kick if I see pink writing on the thumbnail (Ooh, it's one from Will!) or teal (Ooh, it's one from Steven Mark Ryan). Both are always a must-watch.

You don’t see the benefit of transporting people quickly, efficiently, safely on a loop of underground tunnels around Vegas that connects various locations whilst eliminating traffic above?

@@TeslaJigsaw oc i see the benifits. but any subway, even the smallest ones would be faster more efficient, carrying more ppl and are more secure. even just letting ppl bycicly through these tunnels would be faster. using street cars on an underground track without rails is just stupid

The cost to create these tunnels is immensely less than any other current system. Quicker, simpler, affordable. Paired with EVs & autonomy, do you not see the opportunity here?
@Mark-uk8wz11 сағат бұрын
@@TeslaJigsaw there will be traffic jams in and leading to and from those tunnels with the lifts also being bottlenecks and the tunnel a hazard in case of a fire. Metros carry 100s of people at once in 5 minute intervals, so despite being more costly the reward is greater too

If it travels on auto pilot and faster than highways it will lower the trafic on roads and offer a faster route in your personal vericle.
@fxarts97552 сағат бұрын
@@louisstisenit’s a single lane tunnel where cars can’t even drive that fast bc of the huge risks of accidents. They also can only drive rather far apart and have to start by reversing out of a parking lot bc u cant get in and out that fast. So the throughput is just super limited. It maybe takes 10 cars away from the road per tunnel at most. It’s super inefficient and slow. But I can see the vision. Imagine they could drive super close almost like they are chained together. And are so fixed the lanes so they can be faster and that accidents are impossible, and maybe have higher capacities… oh wait that’s a subway. Trains can carry hundreds of ppl at ones, are way faster and safer. They would remove hundreds of cars from the streets

I would like to see one used to create a tunnel from Anfield to Liverpool City Centre to deal with the traffic problem around events at the stadium. It is a relatively short distance from the ground to the centre (2.7km), there is a cleared area next to the ground to launch the machines from and have a station... quick, clean, relatively cheap but no... they are going to spend millions on a bendy long bus to further get clog up the streets. I wish our decision thinkers were more aware of things like this or that Elon would take this outside of the US and do test/trial project in UK where are roads are small, and we do not have teh space to expand them, more so than the USA.
@TeslaJigsaw16 сағат бұрын
Thanks for sharing. It sounds like it would be ideal for that situation. I'm sure in time we'll see projects popping up all over the place. What a shame indeed that we don't look at better problem solving traffic solutions like this in the UK.

The US taxpayer can come along if they want to. Obviously NASA would be interested. Why not pay for some tickets for some astronauts?
@gregsteele80614 сағат бұрын
A big chunk of the money for Starship R&D comes from Starlink. Sure, he has government contracts, but even there he's giving value for the money spent. SpaceX tends to charge much less than most other launch providers.

@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726Күн бұрын
Exactly. We have had subways for a long time and they can Transport many more people at the same time.
@lostvayne9146Күн бұрын
@@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 we don't have a network of roads that uses the Y axis to alleviate congestion. Why do you not see this as making sense? If roads share the same space as buildings and sidewalks, then there will be obvious congestion. How do you think you can hold so much people in a small area. By making buildings vertical. They hold more people in one area than the roads can contain. So obviously you make the roads vertical as well. You free up that space underground and now you have a lot more room to work with. subways aren't a network of roads. They house only a small portion of space. The comparison is not a useful one.
@TeslaJigsaw18 сағат бұрын
Tunnelling at these speeds obviously reduces costs significantly. If multiple 3D tunnelling can occur underground for autonomous electric cars (no fumes or accidents) our city road networks could be greatly de-congested (more pedestrian/cyclist/park space etc) Bit of a long view for the future, but that’s how affordable tunnelling machines could really alter and improve our cities.

@@TeslaJigsaw The speed at which Elon says they can build the tunnels has never been shown. Just the typical snake-oil salesman tactics
@geirmyrvagnes871815 сағат бұрын
Tunnels, especially cheap tunnels are very useful. If you want to put a train or a car in there is a political and economic question. Resources are limited, even space under ground. This could build bike tunnels, pedestrian tunnels, tunnels for water, electricity or whatever kind of infrastructure you want.
