5.000 people, for 30 days. Imagine getting there in a state of distress, then sitting and sleeping in these rooms and corridors while you do not know what has happened to the people you love. Then come out after 30 days, if you're lucky. Unimaginable. The phone with the winding mechanism is so that communication has a chance of working after the EMP of a nuclear explosion. You wind it to create a small charge which will allow you to make (very) short phone calls to the other side of the bunker.
