It looked like it was comfortable and esthetically pleasing to the eye. You can't beat a little cottage with beautiful foliage around you. Yes, it definitely had a cocoon vibe to it which is always comforting. I could hang there and be happy!

What a sweet couple--I like the rhythm of their lives. A little cottage is my dream, one I cannot seem to realize for lack of money but I like to live vicariously through these videos and make my apartment and balcony garden just as cozy. Lots of vintage items, plants everywhere and objects found in nature.

I am very inspired by Gavin's many talents. He paints, does pottery, makes his own pillows, etc. I am like this myself, but sometimes think that I should just focus on one thing and become better at it, instead of just enjoying different arts and crafts. I too love green color and just about everything I paint is green, all of my lamp stands, and furniture. I do love watching these videos. Here, in Miami, where I live, there is so much pressure for just one style of decor, minimalist, at this moment. So, it is so nice to see how other people in the world are creative, walking their own paths, not succumbing to the mainstream decorating style. Very inspiring and encouraging. Thank you Gavin and Boz. Thank you House and Garden.

The one unframed oil that he said was a "lucky find" there's a frame in the video where he's side by side, face same angle as painting and I would swear it was a self portrait had he not said "lucky find". This cottage is so cozy...maybe one day.

Small persnickety edit to description: "Gavin Houghton's rented cottage in Oxfordshire, shared with his partner photographer Boz Gagovski..."
@als8368 Жыл бұрын
Hello, anybody who would help me to find brand and name of the fabric which upholsters this cosy armchair that Gavin Houghton calls "Gigolo" while describing his green living room? I tried quite a few different options on Internet (description like plum/flower/branches/ English/floral chintz/fabric interior/upholstering...), even google image search which didn't give me any results. I would be very grateful if you could give me the tip ;)

‘A tiny playhouse of a cottage’ - hilarious. It’s a very reasonably sized house for the vast majority of people.
@IMAInteriors2 жыл бұрын
I like the house and how real it is... and as an arachnophobic living in an old house myself... can I point out that NO ONE ever talks about how having too many things is a spider magnet? it´s the only reason why I haven´t covered the house in chintz yet hahaha
@NicolesNaturals2 жыл бұрын
Me too, I have a severe phobia of spiders and after planting several trees in my backyard I have noticed more and more throughout the years. So it's a trade-off. Do I want my gorgeous trees along with all the spiders? Or a bare, ugly backyard with very few spiders. I'll take the trees and ask my husband and kids to kill the spiders haha
@IMAInteriors2 жыл бұрын
@@NicolesNaturals I'm so glad to hear that... I mean, not that you have spiders, but that we are real people =) I´ve always lived in apartments on really high floors (so nothing can crawl all the way up). About a year ago I moved to an old house surrounded by woods and the previous owner LOVED unkept plants, so we have bougainvilleas everywhere... they are gorgeous, but the spiders are pretty big too. Now I´m getting used to it and I even feel bad about killing them, but whenever I see one of these houses I keep thinking about their owners and their apparent no-fear of bugs hahaha
@natashadavies95692 жыл бұрын
I try to pare back to the objects I really like but I find the resident spiders companionable. Sometimes I name them and it's always a little sad if the cat murders one. The cat is companionable too of course.
@IMAInteriors2 жыл бұрын
@@natashadavies9569 that’s nice to hear Natasha. Can I ask you something rather silly to someone who isn’t afraid of bugs? Do they ever try to get in your way? I hate sitting on a comfy chair only to find a quick spider coming out to check what’s going on. Have you ever been biten by one on that type of situation? Sometimes I feel like I fear them unnecessarily 🤦🏻♂️
@juliepalfree152 жыл бұрын
@@IMAInteriors Depends where your house is in the world! Here in the very middle of England, spiders don't bite - no honestly. I have always lived in old houses with lot's of all types of spiders and I like them, they keep down flys and knats and random bugs. The big ones that pop out in the evening to take a stroll I especially like. The ones that appear in the bath are a nuicence I must admit, but just catch them in the 'glass and paper' way and put them out - please don't kill them.
