Inside Lucinda Chambers' personality-filled London house | Design Notes

For former Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers, the decoration of her west London house has been a 30-year evolution, choosing and adjusting the elements of each room as she would her clothes - with a sense of colour, character and above all stylish comfort. As fashion icon Diana Vreeland famously wrote, 'the eye has to travel', and in Lucinda's house, there are endless things to peer and marvel at. 'I am a bit of a tart in that I really like anything," she says. "I am as happy with two cheap cushions as I am with an expensive piece of art. I don't care where something comes from, as long as it is life-enhancing."

I was so proud when a visitor to my craft fair booth where my daughter and I were selling our artwork said that our booth had a wonderful, welcoming, bookish aura, and had a distinct earthy smell-- that's how I want my home to feel!

so what? i can enjoy this beautiful home and still live in a minimalist environment. i can’t live in this house, i cannot maintain it, i don’t have time to clean it, i don’t have the money to accumulate this much stuff, i don’t have as much story as she does to tell of every piece in my house and i shouldnt have to. thats why this is HER house lol. just watch the video and as your username says cheer up!

@@AJ-td5fk You dont have to maintain anything with art or pain on the walls? Also not really that expensive, most of my home is thrifted and most of the art in my home is also thrifted. You can be a minimalist and still have a warm and welcoming home, doesnt need to be FULL of stuff, just doesnt need to be dead and dreary and devoid of life.

Just so incredibly warm and dreamy, feel like I could spend ages eating and reading there. I have to say though, the ease with which she got on the property ladder made my heart sink lol. Don’t begrudge her good fortune at all, but life will never be that good or affordable again (whether you’re buying or getting council housing) and it’s a damn shame.

This woman and l are kindred spirits. There is so much joy and so much personality in her home, l feel inspired to just get going with my decor. Such a great home with so many great ideas. I love a colorful lived-in home with stories to tell and things to look at where you feel welcome right away. I highly dislike the beige and white and "everything the same as everyone else's" style that too many people seem to be into today. This brings me such joy. I just came back from Marrakech and you won't believe the things I brought back in my luggages. Is crazy there. They won't let you go once you are inside their shops and one won't resist of the number they offer you at the end of many back and forth because it good music for your ears 😂.
