INSIDE HALE END | 'It's in the club's blood' | Six-part documentary | Episode 1

If you've ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at our world-famous academy, then Inside Hale End will offer unprecedented insight into the quest to develop future first-team stars.
Our new six-part documentary series - presented by adidas x Arsenal - follows the paths of our under-15 and under-16 squads last season, taking an in-depth glimpse into their lives and what it means to be an aspiring footballer.
For the first time, cameras were allowed on-site to follow academy manager Per Mertesacker, under-15s coach Adam Pilling and the under-16s' Adam Birchall as they help the next generation plot a course from Hale End to London Colney, thanks to their first professional contract.
The first three episodes are now available on Arsenal.com for our Members to watch, with the following three episodes will be released on Tuesday, September 12.

This was great 👍 I actually enjoyed this 1 episode more than the Amazon series. Years back my nephew played for Fulham . He was about 12 at the time and when they played at Arsenal I went and watched......and yes I still cheered 4 arsenal 😂 but it was a great experience being at that ground.

Didn’t play a game for a year and pocketed Diego Costa in an FA Cup final on his return. Depends your categorisation of world class I suppose but I thought he was an incredible defender.

No it is not this is La Masia system which invented back when Cruyff in charge of Barcelona, then the system followed by Ajax after and it has became staple for them. Its not a stranger Mikel adopted this system since he's coming from La Masia.

I hope merk isn't taking Wenger attitude to defensive coaching. He seems to be really good in this role though. Putting this out etc all part of promoting club to more prominence. More fans more shirts more subs etc. The world ee live in we need to have massive revenue streams to not just succeed but maintain the success. Team is delivering " a good product " on the pitch which Man U took 10 years to realise was essential. Unlike normal customers where its easy to lose one difficult to get one back you can keep rhem for years. Man U and Liverpool huge globally. Liverpool maintained that through 30 years without title and now Man U 10 but still massive. I am pretty sure marketing folk involved in every move. Not that many come from any academy to be honest. Adams... Saka. ESR now little worry about his long term prospects. Even Chelsea had no one after Terry for decades. But Chelsea managed to make it earning stream. Nit sure rules now but it's more difficult to tie kids up so you can invest years in them and lose them ir get leveraged into excessive contracts. Obviously we don't show all our secrets but I am sure other teams will watch this lol.. Arteta brought up in Barcelona culture of playing in a system from childhood. He wants to be involved in establishing that, but talent tends to come in waves. You can't be establishing first team players for 6-7 years and bringing new blood every year. We only seem to produce attacking midfielder and attacker's lol. Would be nice to see us producing a Partey or Saliba. Would be great to see us establishing dynasty lasts a decade or more. We need a documentary on our conditioning and medical teams. Do we have above average injuries at youth level? Many come to us relatively fit and end up chronic treatment room junkies.

Agreed . I hope one day the ppl begins the scenes wake the hell up and start broadcasting EVERYTHING. From the youth right up to the first team. In the 21st century there is literally no need anymore for TV fixtures to be in the hands of Sky , BT etc; the Premier league clubs don't need them. It would maximise profits, and give access to fans all across the country and the world who can't go to the Emirates.

Maybe he wasnt the smartest academically to start with but i think he has CTE. Per Mertesacker wasn't the greatest footballer out there. But he has the mentality of a good coach. It's interesting to observe that the best players do not always make the best coaches. In fact a lot of the best players tend to be self focused and dont necessarily have coach "greater good" mentality.

I lived close to Hale end since primary school. They have to sort out the parking there. The pavement is massive for very little foot traffic. They have to increase parking for cars to help visitors out not make it harder with restrictions.
