Cryengine's approach to realtime lightning is so so much better than Unreal's stupid expensive Lumen. Svogi is awesome. The rendering in this game is amazing.. however there's some real low quality assets in here, surprisingly. When it come to geometric and texture details I don't see anything better here than in Crysis 3 all these years ago.
@xtr.76622 ай бұрын
@@astrea555 thats because lumen is supposed to pretty easy to implement for custom engines like this you still have to bake a lot games like this, ff16 or demon souls remake have excellent lighting on par with lumen but its not as easy also this does look better than crisis 3 remastered i suggest watching some gameplay your memory might be a bit fuzzy also its not better looking than crisis 1 remastered which actually benefited the most from the upgrades and actually has SVOGI implementation unlike crisis 2 and 3 remastered

Lumen is amazing even in software form. Both Lumen and this approach are vastly inferior to genuine path tracing like RTXDI/GI, but all are impressive in and of themselves.

The game was first released in 2018 and almost all assets got carried over to the new release. That's why you still see low quality stuff sometimes.
@uhavekrabs2 ай бұрын
Unreal did have SVOGI or a form of voxel gi back in ue4, but they dropped it pretty early. Also lumen is a more 'next gen' tech that is pretty scalable and does its job, but needs more time to cook. SVOGI is nice, but it has some pretty big limitation it self with a big one being that it doesnt work as well with dynamic objects (its best used with static geometry). It also can cause some noise and ghosting. Any form of GI is gonna be expensive and/or have some big limitations. As @Wobbothe3rd pointed out the only way to have the best implementation is through Ray Tracing/Path Tracing.

I spent the last day re optimizing my cpu to better run this game. And not ONE channel has any guide for settings. I hope this helps give me insight instead of guessing! Thank you DF! I am brand new to Hunt with this update and its my favorite game!!

Re Optimizing your CPU? Are you an Intel engineer capable of changing your physical CPU or code? It doesn't make any sense.

everything is great except the UI. its the most unintuitive, designed by a madman, netflix/hulu call of doody garbage ive ever seen. redesign the UI crytek. PLEASE. redditors made better menu UI design.

No updated version of DLSS or frame gen? To most, gameplay is king, then performance, then graphics. Graphics are nice to get you in the door but gameplay and performance keep you around. Crytek never took performance seriously and I think its always hurt them in sales and reputation.

They took performance seriously with Crisis 2 and were shunned for it because it didn’t overstress the latest graphics cards for a change.
@thepunisherxxx68042 ай бұрын
@@MelvinGundlach No they didn't it was just optimized for console, they were FORCED to make it run well for that reason alone, as we saw with the more linear levels and closed off map design. When they added tessellation and other PC only features they bungled that too. Users found out that everything (including the ocean below the map) was rendering at FULL tessellation despite being out of view.
