I live in Missouri, and back in 2018, my mom took me and my two younger siblings to the humane society out in Macklind for a meet and greet. The meet and greet was with a Borgi (Corgi Basset Hound mix) named Huey. Huey was rescued after this hurricane passed and now he lives with me, my mom, my dad, my two younger siblings, and my grandmother. He has been with us for 5 years now and he's a total sweetheart who loves to lay down on the couch, bark whenever he hears the front or back door open, and he absolutely loves to snuggle.

George Playz Roblox : I live in Graceville, Florida, just three miles south of the Florida/Alabama State line. Graceville is in the northwest corner of Jackson County. Our highest sustained winds were 143 mph, and that's gettin' it. Marianna, which is the county seat of Jackson County had sustained winds of 162 and 165 mph. Well, we knew in Graceville that this was no ordinary storm. We knew it was a category 5 long before the government finally said it was. My house was built in 1905. I got no damage from the storm at all. I feel for all the people who lost everything to that storm. Only by the Grace of God, it was not worse for me.

@stevewilliams3850
@stevewilliams3850 3 жыл бұрын
@@markpalavosvrahotes5575 : Dude, I don't know where you got your information; but civil engineers and authorities recorded sustained winds in Marianna of 162mph and 165 mph (that's miles per hour). Wind gusts of 102 do not do the damage that was done by that hurricane. Sometime in 2019, they finally upgraded Michael to a category 5. Donaldsonville, Georgia reported wind gusts of either 165 mph, or they may have had wind gusts as high as 185. The hurricane tore hell out of Donaldsonville. Did you even come to see the damage that hurricane did? It blew the bark off of hundreds of thousands; maybe millions of trees. We have never, ever had a hurricane do that to this region; at least not that I can recall. Hurricanes Opal and Ivan were very destructive for this area; but Michael was worse that the two of them put together.. They reported wind gusts at the Marianna airport, of 203 to I believe it was either 207 or maybe as high as 209 mph. They had wind gusts over 200 mph at the airport. It takes a category 5 hurricane to blow a city off the map. The highest sustained winds in my town were 143 mph. That's some powerful winds.
@markpalavosvrahotes5575
@markpalavosvrahotes5575 3 жыл бұрын
@@stevewilliams3850 No no no. Source please? While I agree that 102 mph is a little low there is no way winds were 162 mph. Hell the maximum sustained winds were 160 at time of landfall. I dont think on land anyone got that strong because of land friction. This is what I think the winds were: Mexico Beach 150 gusts of 180 Tyndall AFB 145 gusts to 175 mph Callaway 135 gusts to 160 Panama City 125-130 mph gusts to 155 MARIANNA 115 mph gusts to 130 mph Finally Talahassee 70 to 80 gusts 90-100. No town was wiped off the map just a lot of destruction everywhere. By the way it was the Marianna airport that recorded the gust of 102 mph. No the instrument did not fail.

This footage was made from our condominium “Summerhouse” in Mexico Beach. Our condo was on the floor below where this footage was taken. The blue house at the beginning of the footage was one of the places that we had vacationed at several years before. Fortunately for our family, we had moved back to Tennessee before Hurricane Michael. To this day, I don’t believe that the majority of people truly realize the devastation that this Hurricane brought to the Florida Panhandle. It’s like it’s been forgotten by the media.

I was in Hurricane María in Puerto Rico last year, and when the eye wall passed closest to my home it was a strong Category 3 Hurricane and Michael looks worse when they have to retreat in the video. There was devastation in Puerto Rico but most of our homes are made of concrete. Florida needs to figure out a way to start building not just walls, but roofs in concrete as well, to avoid situations like the one depicted in the video, without the building sinking into the softer sandy Florida soil. I hope everyone recovers from this in Florida faster than we are taking to recover in Puerto Rico.
@tvold9204

In my area we build out of concrete, it depends on the area. A lot of the homes in southern florida are concrete, while north florida (the video was in North florida) builds mostly out of wood.

Within the North Atlantic Ocean, tropical or subtropical cyclones are named by the National Hurricane Center (NHC/RSMC Miami) when they are judged to have intensified into a tropical storm with winds of at least 39 mph; 63 km/h). There are six lists of names which rotate every six years and begin with the first letters A-W used, skipping Q and U, and alternating between male and female names. The names of significant tropical cyclones are retired from the lists, with a replacement name selected at the next World Meteorological Organization's Hurricane Committee meeting. If all of the names on a list are used, storms are named after the letters of the Greek alphabet. A nation can request the retiring of a name if the storm caused significant destruction and/or loss of life (Camille, Andrew, Katrina, Maria, etc). Once removed, it will be replaced with a new name for that letter in the next cycle and never used again.

While I survived Yolanda 194 mph winds my neighbors tied down a Nipa hut with barbed wire and the hut survived the storm this would help all wood homes they would need 4. 3 meter long cement posts with hooks buried in the soil but just needs a strong spiderwebbed rope for the roof and tied to the posts however all homes should be by law built with cement in flood zones or areas that get damaged by storm surge so they can be hosed down after the storm....

That hurricane was scary, not a lot of people where I lived took it too seriously. I watched my neighbors houses get destroyed and trees crashing down and roofs flying... The wind was really intense, and my screen door flew into my neighbors window......

Even so, there's usually a clause, and Gov has been coming in taking properties, like in California. Cali homes insured but did not cover their cement or brick that mysteriously turned to dust. If homes were built safe as they are only permitted to build unsafe, we wouldn't need insurance.

In 92 me and my family lost everything we owned when our home in Florida city(homestead- Miami) was literally blown away( concrete block btw) and literally couldn't find our street due to NOTHING being there standing as land marks for as far as the eye could see.... It was a cat. 5 and did the same and more damage than Micheal.... Prob. Is it hit an area that was and is not as much in value of homes( waterfront homes in Mexico beach go for 300,000- 3 million) so in monetary comparison.... Yes this maybe costlier.... In AMOUNT of damaged structures... Andrew still was worse I believe.... Both are terrible and horrific.. and not a measuring contest but it is part of living in Florida... I still ouve here and last year was hit here in Ocala by Irma... Which leveled alot from the gulf all the way inland to Ocala ... Part of the deal living here in paradise.... Good with the bad.... Insure well... Pray for the best expect the worst. God bless those who were in harm's way and affected.... And hopefully they will prevail and bounce back
