Please look at how the Tejas MK2 development funding has been delayed to make way for 114 foreign MRFA jets. In this case the politicians(regardless of party) have been cleaner than the intermediate and middle rungs on the pursuit of indegenization. The extortionists want their grease and keep throwing spanners in the wheel. They do so because they are well established in the system. Unless MRFA is canceled and 400 plus Tejas MK2 jets are shoved down their throats, all of this will be a lip service. Politicians need to muzzle the babus into submission on this.

If you know anything about the theory of genetic first we must look to a foundation, and so we look into one billion Indians and compare that to the laws and so we concluded that out of the billion there exist a class of Indians capable of moving Indians closer in not only producing their own defense, but on par with the leaders in such industry but the problem is a method of searching and finding them to achieve that particularly purpose.

@@rajeshbhanjan783 It takes time to rebuild a country after being subdued for 300 years and more. The foundation of India was not easy, with such diversity, cultural differences, languages, religions and ethnicity. If bjp was in power after independence, they would have gone through the same process. How many years it took your father, to see you on your feet! Could he have done it faster!! Give credit to each stage of India's build up and maintain an open mind. with a kaleidoscopic variety and rich cultural heritage. India has achieved all-round socio-economic progress since Independence. Plus, it took all Indians to be where India is now. I hope you realize that. Modi is also cashing in on ISRO'S Achievements that Dongress (as you call Congress) established in 1960. Modi has achieved nothing accept build a few thousand roads and glamorized buildings with disco lights that have dazzled some Indians, who don't realize, that these are all amazing to the normal Indian who cannot travel from Nagpur to Kanpur. The most destruction thing that Modi is creating, is ruling with religious politics which will being India down. I have nothing against bjp, except the religious issue. A leader cannot pit his own people, one against another, just because he has the freedom to believe in what ever he wants to believe..my life, my choice. No one is feeding and clothing me and we are not slaves to none.

It's good to make defense equipment at home for self reliance. However, india needs to be careful. Taking out competition from outside suppliers actually may have the opposite effect. India must remain strict about performance and reliability requirements for its home grown equipment.

Import substitution has rarely worked in past. India should tread these waters with caution. Indian companies need to compete with western defense industrial complex on fair grounds to maintain quality. India needs to fire bureaucrats from all defense and strategic PSUs and run them like private companies instead of using them as instruments of job creation. If HAL wants best talent in defense they need to provides salaries like Lockheed-Martin which is totally doable if they reduce 90% cruft of Babus.

I recall that between 1970s and 1990s also, the government of India mouthed “import substitutions and export promotion“. It did nothing to promote manufacture in India. Industries were simply stifled. Import of technology was seen as treachery! Now the attitude is vastly different. The manufacturing sector in India is ready to take on this challenge. India has thrown away its begging bowl long back!

Sadly India should 'recycle' their Soviet/Russian design-based tank fleet ASAP unless they want to win turret high-flying at the next Olympics. Some other weapons also did not show perfect performance on the battlefield. Combined with other modern equipment this will be very expensive. And India needs money for a lot of other things. But be glad: China has (mostly) the same problem with its tanks.

Goiod that is for defence industry . Let is talk sbout foreign companies in India . I think Pm Modi ,Foreign Minister Jaiya shakar are weak in econmics . Since 2014:,2700 foreign companies left India . Why few foreugn companies coming to India ? World Bank have said that India must grab the foreign companies leaving China . Many are going to Malaysia ,Indonesia ,Vietnam etc India must be fast - in attracting foreugn investment . Barriers in India a- politucal system b - bureaucratic problems c- Corruption d- poor infrastructure to support investors e- Unskill workforce f- Poor legal ,judiciary systems g -General Bring in the labour intensive industries ,therefire millions of Indians can be employed especially woman . India is very slow .Protectionism of local Indian companiestgat are unoriductuve ,uncompetitve etc .
