Inside Japan's tiny house eco village. I heard about people living a self-sufficient life in a village made entirely of scrap wood deep in the mountains of Sagamihara City in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. I wanted to see this village filled with tiny houses and a different way of living for myself so I decided to pay them a visit!

WHO AM I? Iâm Shota and I left Japan at the age of 19 and spent 9 years traveling and discovering the world. In early 2020, I returned to Japan with my Scottish girlfriend Ruth and we converted an old delivery van into a DIY camper van to live in full-time. We spent 18 months doing full-time van life in Japan and visited many incredible places off the beaten path. While on our van trip, we spontaneously purchased an ex-Japanese police bus we saw for sale and took on the challenge of converting it into our dream off-grid tiny home on wheels! We are now back on the road exploring lesser-discovered places in Japan.
