Huge, huge respect to anyone in the medical/care field! It’s never an easy job. No matter how smart or knowledgeable one might be. even if incredibly important to learn live. As with any operation you have the power to kill or heal. It’s a fucking lot to keep calm and carry on.during surgery knowing it might likely be your fault if a patient lives or dies. Mega huge,giant thanks and so much respect to the patients who agree to to let someone learn! There is always a senior practitioner standing by. You are safe no matter! You help teaching those who is gonna make sure a lot of people are safe in the future.

I’ve never had a problem with medical students in my operations. As long as the surgeon doing the technical surgery is the consultant.. But if I had a boil on my butt or a pipe inserted up the back way. I don’t think I’d let it be filmed on TV then on the Internet 😬

As with many other people here. I do think it's a good documentary but cut the background music to the BACKGROUND, please. ESPECIALLY whilst dialogue is being spoken.

How do they expect these surgeons to get the experience if they are constantly dealing with none surgical cases.

Hmmm I nearly died after my consultant allowed his sho to do keyhole sterilisation on me. She ruptured my aorta and then told me I was mardy because I was in pain and bleeding into my abdominal cavity. The consultant was away at a conference so luckily a different consultant stepped in and saved my life. I'm thinking I should have sued after watching this!!!

You were awake when you were bleeding into your abdomen?

@@hustlemedic8314 yes. I had keyhole surgery and was supposed to go home quite soon afterwards. I had bad stomach pains and passed out and was under observation until the evening when the other surgeon had done his work and could come and see me. By this point I was unable to lie on my back due to the pain and threw up after any water. All classic signs of shock. I was given a blood transfusion, some of which had to be forced into me through a vein in my foot as my arm veins had collapsed. Following surgery I woke to the surgeon telling me he had to cut me open to find the bloody bleeder and he would be writing an article for the medical journal so others could be made aware of what happened to me.

I know it is important but being castigated while trying to practice on a live patient can't be helpful in keeping calm and focused, maybe that should come afterwards
