Why is it being Demolished?

I thought they just drill holes through the concrete columns and put the dynamite sticks inside. They use linear explosives to cut the vertical steel columns. Those explosions come first and are timed from the bottom to the top; every few floors. Then: they go horizontal with they dynamite on maybe the first two floors. You see this on All the implosions on youtube.
