Can you recommend a tent, 2 man (enough for me & the crazy spaniel) light weight, not crazy money im thinking the Helm 2 or cloud peak 2 but they are abit on the heavier side. Shopping for tents is such a mine field

I haven't actually used the Akto as we haven't stocked them for quite a few years. I do remember there being quite a big debate about the two tents though, so you might find some good info on forums.

@@trekitt It sure is a big debate haha. The Akto seems to be stronger and more robust, but the Abisko have a few more features like mesh in the ventilation... Hard choice!

When we pitch our tents indoors we use velcro floor anchors directly onto the carpet. If we didn't have those then an easy alternative would be looping the guy lines around some heavy books, they would work in a pinch.

I really like the features on this tent, however i am confused by the width. Why so narrow? If you look at its competitors, Hilliberg, Nordisk they all are wider which seems to except my sleeping mat. I use the Thermarest Neoair lite large as i am 6”2” nand need the longer wider mat. Something i thought Fjallraven would appreciate.

Good question. I'm 6ft 3" and have slept in it pretty comfortably with a Thermarest ProLite Large, although this isn't a particularly wide mat. Harry

I am torn between a fjallraven vs hilleberg I would like to do some winter camps just not on top of mountains would a fjallraven be enough?

Yup, they're four-season rated tents so will be enough for winter.

Would you recommend a footprint for this tent?

A footprint is something we would recommend for pretty much every tent. Whilst the bathtub on the Abisko Lite 1 will stand up to plenty of punishment, the extra peace of mind from adding a footprint is worth the small weight penalty in our minds. Plus it keeps your tent in better condition, much easier to wash a footprint than the entire tent.

Quite awesome, very small packing volume and great ventilation. But I think non self-supporting tents are still not very friendly to cyclist. I wonder if Fjallraven will make a single person dome tent, Abisko Dome 1 or Abisko View 1?🙄

How tall are you? 😂 I think this is the tent I'll be saving for... I am more inclined towards free standing but this tent has a lot of winning points for me... Weight, pack size, quality etc... And this may sound silly but it matters to me.. The fact it comes in that sky blue colour is a real bonus for me 😂 Most of my wild camping is done next to or near the sea and I've always wanted a wee blue house by the sea 😊

It doesn't need to be sealed as long as it has been correctly pitched you shouldn't experience any leaking issues.

When pitching tents your results may vary based on a whole host of factors, but spending the time to ensure the tent is well tensioned and has good ventilation will aid greatly in reducing condensation. Pitching with the footprint is pretty straightforward, lay the footprint out first and peg out, then pitch the tent on top as normal. There are attachment points around the base of the tent to link the two together, so you can keep the footprint attached to the main tent if you prefer and next time you pitch it would be an all in one solution.@@vvs3796

alexander major I personally wouldn't say copy, but I would say it is heavily inspired by the Akto. There are some differences, for example mosquito net in all the ventilation slots, the ability to open and close ventilation from inside the tent, more height in the ends of the inner tent, auto-lock main sipper, slightly less width than the Akto, slighty less weight than Akto, the sippers have cordage instead of metal, which I prefer, because the metal handles tend to bang together in windy conditions and make noise. I have more but I have already written too much :-D

Lets get back to who did it first! For me Hilleberg did but then after 20 years of Nallo 2 I see this brand for the first time. For tweaking the main pole into shorter sections for a smaller pack size weakens in the bend. Then other thing is Hille make a big thing about their poles. They are just not poles they are Eastern (sp) made. The Alto came immediately after I got the Nallo so that makes it year 2000 when did the Abisko appear?
