i bought this down jacket and i can tell you its a monster jacket so comfortable and warm, before buying i tried some mammut marmot patagonia norrora etc.. the only one that had the same warm and features is the Arcteryx Therium or Cerium Sv but this one is even more comfortable at my taste very impressive piece of gear! I LOVE IT !!!

Thank you for all the videos you guys put on youtube. They are really helpfull! However when you review so much awesome gear it's really difficult for a guy like me to figure out what to get :-) Right now I have my eyes on both the Keb touring down (as shown in this video) and the Arc'teryx Thorium AR hoody. Is it possible for you guys to tell me which one is warmer? I mean to my understanding the CUIN number isn't telling you how warm a jacket is overall. E.g. you can get a jacket with 700 CUIN that is warmer than one with 800 CUIN, but it will also use more material and be heavier. And does any of the two jackets have issues staying dry and warm on humid/rainy days in north of europe (under a shell jacket) or if you get a little sweaty? Best regards Stefan from Denmark

Generally the best way to narrow it down is to visit a shop and to try on all the different models. An insulated jacket will only perform correctly if it fits you, and each jacket has different fit. The Keb Touring is long and slim, whereas the Thorium is a little wider and shorter. They're both almost identical in warmth, we couldn't notice a difference. Both outer fabrics are durable and breathable and both pack down as small as one another. In regards to sweating, they'll both deal with it the same way; the best way to limit sweat is to start cold and warm up as you go along, you may find this video useful in regard to that topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZm8gHmZbbBgn9E We hope that helps!

Could you please say something about the room it takes up when you compress it , when it comes to packing it away in to a backpack , also does Fjallraven provide a stuff sack with it or gives any other solution like squiezing it in to one of the pockets like at some of the other brands ? No one says a word about this in any review I have seen regarding this jacket, yet it is quite an important detail I think .

Good spot! We normally cover this if the jacket has a stuffsack, but unfortunately the Keb Touring doesn't. When packed down it will take up about the same amount of room as a 1L Nalgene bottle, but possibly a little wider. The pockets don't allow you to stuff the jacket in, but you can roll it into its own hood fairly easily.

Hi, thanks for your kind comments. The Keb Touring and the Arcteryx Thorium AR have to be two of my personal favourites for trekking. However, I don't normally wear them when active, I just get too hot, so they live in my pack and come out when I stop (lunch etc.) or to sling on in the evening around the camp/bothy/hut. These two are favourites because of fit and function and because they work really well as "belay" jackets or as an everyday cosy winter coat. Paul

Thank you for the quick response. I actually got lucky and got hold of this colour just today (NL). It’s a beautiful dark grey colour with a tint of mos green, which gives it a high quality look. Not as some pictures seen on the internet with light grey colour and black shoulders contrast. Side notice: The official USA website still sells this colour. Quick review: When putting on the jacket I immediately felt warm with its casual fit. In contrary to the Rab Electron which I brought back yesterday due to the loose fit (for me).

Good day Paul. How would you compare this to the Arc'teryx Thorium AR Hoody? Fit, warmth, durability, hood, etc? Which jacket would you choose for yourself?

Paul actually chose the Thorium for himself, however he had been debating it for weeks they're so closely matched. The Keb is longer and a little slimmer, but the Thorium features more room in the shoulders. The fabrics are very similar, the performance is extremely closely matched, the warmth is almost identical, it just depends which one fits you best.

Absolutely, it's where it performs best. The tougher fabric over the shoulders and hood means it resists heavy rucksack straps really well. The Cerium SV is a warmer, bulkier jacket; the Keb is more similar to the Thorium AR. It depends how warm you need to be, which one fits you best, which activities you're carrying out etc.

Great videos guys. I was looking through your web store. I have a particularly long thorso when compared to my arm length making some down jackets too short if the arm length it right. this means I lean toward a jacket that is longer in the trunk. Is this jacket longer, as it does look like it in the video. Also what other brands would you recommend for this issue with fit! Thanks in advance.

Hi, The Keb Touring Down Jacket does not contain hydrophobically treated down. A jacket to look at with a similar specification would be: Rab Electron Jacket, which is also a little bit warmer as it contains slightly more down. www.trekitt.co.uk/16819/products/rab-mens-electron-jacket-graphene.aspx However, even though hydrophobically treated down jackets resist water better than standard down, we still would not recommend using them in the wet. Therefore, if you make sure you always have your shell handy, you'd get the jacket you want. The Atom AR uses a synthetic insulation which works well even when wet but doesn't pack down as small or provide as much warmth for the weight at the Keb Touring which uses down. The Keb won't provide warmth in the wet, however it's warmer for its weight and will pack down smaller. The Atom has a slightly shorter, wider fit, whereas the Keb is longer and slimmer.

This hood is very 'head shaped' as it's not a jacket you'd typically wear a climbing helmet with.

Out of curiosity, as i'm looking for a new insulated jacket, what is the recommend jacket for everyday use in Wales, in your guys' opinions? Everyday uses that i'd be using it for would be the occasional hike in the Beacons, going down the pub and university.

Unfortunately there isn't one singular jacket we can recommend, Wales is a diverse little place! During winter walking in the Brecon Beacons, an Arc'teryx Atom LT is a great insulating jacket as it is virtually unaffected by moisture, is water resistant, wind resistant and breathable enough to have a waterproof over the top in particularly foul conditions. However, if you were to stop for a lengthy period of time, you may not be warm enough, which is where the Keb Touring is perfect (as long as it isn't raining). This offers far more warmth, so is ideal for static activities in this country (or when moving in Scandinavia).

I almost bought the LT last year but was I reluctant to whether it would be warm enough. This Fjallraven does look the part although it's slightly over my budget at the moment. Any recommendations under 250?

@@770yd It depends. If you're heading up the Beacons to walk, you'll rarely need anything warmer until you stop. For use around town, you'll need something much warmer as you'll be static/moving slowly.
