Brilliant, comprehensive review. I have just acquired one of these jackets. Looking forward to putting it through its paces.

@@trekitt It is a great jacket, but not puppy proof.

Just about to order one of these from you in Electric Blue! Getting it as a warmer alternative to my Icarus for cooler days.

Is this better than the Icarus? What's it like compared to the Rab Cirrus also?

Hi, great review, thanks! Just one question how much volume does it take when compressed? thanks :)
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
About the same size as a two litre water bottle. Although a little shorter and wider than a traditional supermarket bottle. Kind regards, Harry.

Great videos really informative. Would you pick this or the flux jacket??
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
I'd pick the Ground Control as it fits me better and is more suitable for what I do! Harry

i like ur reviews. do u like Rab or Montane jackets? which is more premium? thanks
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
Both fantastic and owned a mixture of both. Pick either and you can't go wrong.

hi, really helpful review. just 2 questions does it come with a stuff sack ? if so how small does it get. And secondly does it have glove drying pockets on the inside ?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Russell, the Ground Control jacket is not supplied with a stuff sack, however it will stuff down onto a small Exped Fold Dry bag. The packed size will be about 31x17x12cm, or 5 litres. It also does not have the mesh dump pockets on the inside. Thanks for watching. Paul
@russellvernon42143 жыл бұрын
@@trekitt brilliant cheers, the lack of dump pockets is a tad annoying I guess the flux or an ME Fitzroy would be a better belay jacket?
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
@@russellvernon4214 The Fitzroy (or Flux) would indeed be a more suitable belay jacket. They're both more weather-resistant and have the all-important dump pockets.

Thank you for the review, Im 5'10 with a 42" chest, Would a medium be a better choice ?
@trekitt2 жыл бұрын
You're probably going to be somewhere between a medium and a large depending on layers. Possibly try both and see which fits best/order both and send back one. Harry

Hello, I own a Flux. A friend is in the market for a similar jacket. Is this warmer than the Flux. Thanks for the great reviews 👍
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen. The warmth of the two jackets is very similar, but their performance is very different. The GC jacket is more compressible and breathable, whilst the Flux is tougher and more weather resistant. All it's down to your intended use and the prevailing conditions. I hope that helps. Paul.

I was having a difficult time choosing between this and the Flux jacket as a jacket for temperatures from 0-10 degrees. I went for the Flux, mainly because of esthetics (cleaner look). Is the ground control much warmer or are they comparable? Thanks for the great review! 👍
@trekitt3 жыл бұрын
They're pretty similar in warmth, but the Ground Control is more suitable for active use whereas the Flux is primarily aimed at static/slow moving use. Harry

...confused... so the colour is black but looks blue in bright light?.... wanted to get this jacket in narwhal blue which is the colour it looks here but the colour is black or electric blue.... if this is actually what the black looks like in bright lights then prob get one.
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Zauchi, It is a bit confusing. The black is definitely a black, however, in certain lights it does have a blue hue, especially in bright sunlight. Which we think Looks pretty cool! Here is a link to the full description on our website if you need it too www.trekitt.co.uk/38286/products/montane-mens-ground-control-jacket-black.aspx All the best, Will

How would you compare this with the Icarus Jacket?
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
The Icarus doesn't feel as warm and is a slimmer fit overall, so I'd opt to use that for more active use whereas the Ground Control feels substantially warmer, making it more suitable for belay use or during stop-start activities. Kind regards, Harry.
@sdemosi4 жыл бұрын
The Ground Control also has a fully adjustable hood & hem. I tried both and the Ground Control was the one I settled on. It's a great synthetic. Feels very comfortable, it's surprisingly warm and is comparable with the best mid weight down jackets you can buy.

Nebula Pro, thanks for watching.

I'm rather sure this has 180g insulation altogether and not per square metre. 180gsm is in the range of a Mountain Research Citadel or OR Colossus. Great review though!

Technically brilliant it maybe, but I just can’t get over the fact that I find it rather ugly! That’s where Rab shines for me; a perfect blend between technical yet handsome.

Exactly why we stock both, everyone has their preferences.
