Just wanna add a praise to this backpack! I bought it 6 months ago. I do a lot of 1-day hike and as Paul said in the video this backpack is very versatile, yet full of awesome features for short hikes! Just to describe just how efficient this backpack is... these are what I usually bring: trekpoles, mattress (rolled on the side-pocket), 500ml bottle on the other pocket. Inside: Jacket, spare shirt, small towel, light raincoat, 2L water bladder, first-aid kit, stove, cooking pan, cup, snacks.. On the outer zip-pocket : sunglasses, knife, pocket cam, wallet. And when I need to commute-work, my 12” laptop fits in it so nicely too! Only con: Not very good as a daypack for long travel-backpacking.. Usually during long travels you put the big backpack on your back and the daypack on your front. Its iron frame makes it uncomfortable. And takes up quite a lot space in a suitcase/big backpack because you can’t fold it. Just wanna share. :) I hope this helps!

Osprey messed up their mesh pocket design not just on on the Daylite but also on the Hikelight series and Tropos series. Every water bottle falls out.

If you try holding it closer to upside down than what you're doing in your video, the bottle will fall out, guaranteed.

@@trekitt Everything from 0.5 liter to 1 liter bottles fall out, even when picking up something from the ground because it sits way too losely in the mesh, bascially sliding in all directions... so it really is a dysfunctional design. There are plenty of consumers complaining about this issue in reviews.

This or the Talon? Hard to choose between the two now.

Positive of Hikelite: More breathable thanks to the suspended backpanel, tends to be a better commuting bag. Negative of Hikelite: Hipbelt isn't supportive, it's there just to stop the pack bouncing around. Positive of Talon: Hipbelt is far more supportive and designed to take more weight, plus the flexible backsystem means it's lighter and will pack smaller than the Hikelite (if you're travelling and need to pack it into a suitcase, for example). Negative of Talon: Isn't as breathable as the Hikelite.

Is this pack able to attach to ospreys larger packs? I notice it has the same type of attachment points as the daylite series ( ie. The compression straps and the small buckles at the waistbelt ) but I cannot find any info from osprey confirming this.
@trekitt2 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid we no longer stock this bag so I can't check. The buckles might be the same size, but I do remember there being a 'Daylite Travel' which was designed to fit onto the Farpoint range, but this had larger buckles. Sorry I can't be of more use. Harry

Is this backpack too small for someone that’s 5’9 and 220 lbs???
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
It should be absolutely fine. The backsystem tends to fit most users due to its pre-curved shape and the hipbelt, as it isn't load bearing, can be positioned wherever is comfortable rather than right on your hip bones as a traditional load-bearing hipbelt would. Kind regards, Harry.

As an all year round daypack, I'd go for the 26. It'll give you more space for insulated jackets, a stove, more food, etc. Kind regards, Harry.

How is the back size if you´re tall? I´m 6´3, so will this fit, or is it maybe to small?
@trekitt5 жыл бұрын
The length of the backsystem is dictated by your back length and not by your overall height. Paul is 6ft 3", however he uses a S/M back length where available as most of his height is in his legs. If you watch our 'How to Fit Your Rucksack' video, you should be able to measure your own back length.

@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, the Hikelite could, at a push, be used as a run pack but there are better alternatives more suited to that activity. The Montane Trailblazer would be perfect as a small multi-activity pack - www.trekitt.co.uk/36922/products/montane-trailblazer-30-electric-blue.aspx

I have very broad shoulders and large chest. Have had difficulty getting a smaller daypack with sufficient straps and waist strap to center the load without pinching into my armpits. How is this pack for bigger guys?
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
Good question! Unfortunately we no longer stock this pack and I wouldn't like to guess if it would fit or not. If possible, I'd find somewhere near to you with a wide range of packs which you can try on and compare with some weight in - this will be the best way to find something you're happy with. Kind regards, Harry.

If you put wet rain jacket in the easy pull pocket, will the water get thru inside?

90% of the time, no; however if the jacket is exceptionally wet and you place the bag face down then it could eventually make it's way through.

Hey guys, can you fit two trekking poles just on one size?

Hello! Thanks for the very helpful review. I have a question - when you say the hip straps are 'not load-bearing' - what is the difference between these and load-bearing ones? Do you know how much difference it would make? Thanks :)
@trekitt6 жыл бұрын
So with larger rucksacks, the majority of the weight will be transferred through the hipbelt, whereas on lighter packs such as the Hikelite, the hipbelt is there purely to stop the bag bouncing around, it isn't designed to take the weight of the bag. I hope that helps!

Hi! could you help me?, i cannot decide between this model, and the talon 22. This one is bigger and have raincover, but the talon is more expensive, only for the backpart?, i wont to buy one "small" backpack for trek, carry on, city tour, etc. Thx!
@trekitt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicolas. I think that the Talon 22 would make a much better "all-round" pack for the activities you state. It carries weight much better thanks to the larger hip belt and more technical back panel. Ultimately it'll be more comfortable. Rain covers are available separately, or you could use drybags to keep the contents protected. I hope that helps, Paul.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that the Hikelite didn't work out for you. I'm curious as to which straps were not long enough as, in our experience, the Hikelite fits most people really well. Thanks for watching.
@ihategoogle59104 жыл бұрын
The shoulder straps, I feel could have been longer. The bottom of the bag stops halfway down my back I would prefer to be able to get it lower. It's just a personal preference of mine, other bags I own in the same size and category allow for more length in adjustment.
