Inside Mexico’s Cheapest Town!🇲🇽 (San Cristobal)

Chiapas has been named as the poorest state in Mexico because the majority of its residents live in poverty! These are very sad news and I really wish things could be better in the future.
However, due to this unfortunate fact, Chiapas and its beautiful capital,San Cristobal, is probably the cheapest and the most affordable place for backpackers like me and probably you.
When we visit such a place, firstly we might think that we are saving money but the same time we are supporting the local economy which is at least something positive overall!
And its also our duty (If we can) to give some tips here and there!
Today I am exploring San Cristóbal and its local Central Market! I’m super curious to meet the people here and see If the prices of usual things like tacos, tortas and haircuts are really that cheaper than the rest of Mexico!

Some media and people talk about not many good things about Mexico. It's totally different from what I see in your videos. People are so friendly and so attentive. Lovely people selling fresh and delicious food for an extremely cheap price. Mexico is now a must-visit country on my travel list. That's for sure. And I will be learning Spanish soon. I was there 2 months ago and it's super chill. Of course kind of touristic in some places which annoyed me because that attracts a lot of people who also want to profit of that with the expensive prices but it's only a really small % of the Mexican people. Most of them were really hardworking and it didn't matter where you were from everybody enjoyed their time and treated me as I was Mexican although my Spanish is not even that good :) I can recommend you going but don't do the Cancun - Tulum route.. go to mexico city and work your way down

Great video. Just returned from San Cristobel. It is the prettiest most charming town. The people are friendly and the food is great. Plenty of interesting museums, bars, restaurants , music for all tastes and budgets.

San cris isn't the cheapest town by any stretch of the imagination. You need to get out to the smaller towns in Chiapas that don't have tourist inflation for that. Also priced have massively risen in the past 3 years.

YEAh el mercadito 2 is a place where you can find barbershops, fake cds as you watched jaja places to eat, I hope you did not get sick there, and yes most of time they are very kind with foreign people, the MERCADO GRANDE as it is localy known is where you can fund fruits, vegetables, meat of all kind, I live here actually, be careful with cars.
