None of the other promotions will bring the UFC up. Pat thinks it's about great fights, it's not. It's about entertainment and profit. When another promotion can match what the UFC offers, I promise they will want to work with them.

Of course, Randy would be the underdog. That's the whole point of putting him against Fedor. Couture has always done best as the underdog, so it'd be interesting to see if he can put anything together against the obvious favorite.

This is when a person is younger. Now as they get older it is all about the money. Dana knew what to do from the start. Now he is running the world of MMA everyone is just a history. It is sad to say but just remember business over everything.

yeah but that's it. Brett Rogers is a pretty determined fighter very fresh though. I watched him fight live at a kimbo headline for eliteXC. I just wish the best fighters would all go to one place. It's like if the NFL had two leagues. No one would know who the world champions were. It would be too much .

Making this happen is the only way MMA will grow bigger than boxing. this is what made boxing a big sport, MMA tends to be more exciting. I agree this needs to be done if they want MMA to grow at a the status of boxing

Now this is intresting.I hope it will come to what big john said.A fight league that really focus on the strongest fighters and that these fighters can battle it out in that league and really state who is the strongest.Cause i don't think it's right when every organisation states that ther division champion is the best in the "world".Hopefully boys and girls we get to see this "real" UFC.Were the best fighters in the world battle it out!.I can barley wait!

@kr4yzi32k Silva has said he sits around 185 during his fights and does not put on a lot of weight while GSP fights welterweight at 185, so I do not think it would be a problem. GSP would just need some time to "put on more weight". But now I am getting stuck thinking on the jacked up weight system in UFC so I am going to stop before I rant.

@Lyingaboutmyage that's exactly the point! soccer kicks induce unconsciousness, clean KO's & TKO's! rather than the typical fighter threatening/maiming severe cuts, that elbows on the ground produce. There are countless examples don't play naive.

@tnafan Pat is NOT a business man. Dana White is. To this day so many people question Dana's business decisions. Well he's been proving them all wrong since 2007, so why do people still think he's all the sudden going to fail? I don't know. It's quite obvious to me that Dana White knows what the hell he's doing, knows what he wants, and has a proper business model in achieving it. With the exception of Fedor I think it's safe to say Dana White can and will sign whatever fighter he wants to.

@Lyingaboutmyage this you must be in heaven with these unified rules! I suggest to you that you watch some of Maxi Blanco's highlights in Sengoku; somewhat reminiscent of PrideFC in its glory days, as well as being one the closets thing to authentic ValeTudo. you wouldn't trade elbows for soccer kicks?? I think the fighters should be able to make that decision! Even BJ Penn has expressed disapproval over the NON-allowance of 4point attacks; Bas Rutten is another critical of elbows & more.

@judaschongo seems like your forgetting what martial arts means, means control, respect for others, discipline, and so on. With everything being legal, able to pretty much do anything you want example: soccer kicks, eye gouging etc, where is the martial art in that? there isnt one, with no rules and no guidelines as strict as the ufc, it makes MMA not MMA but just ruthless fighting

@hyeroller25 the point is simple & obvious, ufc along with their brand of MMA labeled "unified rules" are watered down & limited plain & simple!. Name the bias of the former boxing personnel within ufc(or MMA as U say)?? NO-4point attacks, NO-stomps, NO-soccer kicks, NO-up kicks, NO-slams(piledriver), NO-rounds exceeding 5min.! or what about the highly controversial & problematic 10point must system for judging? and you see NO problem with this?

@billyhannah billy you make interesting points; I've said it for years unfortunately ufc has managed to make a success out of MMA in a very narrow limited sense. They've only managed to make it appealing to the NON-discerning reality show minded masses particularly from here in North America. PrideFC has been the epitome of MMA thus far & done more the sport bar none! The format is another area people just don't talk about; "unified rules" are a SCAM! PrideFC had a superior MMA/ValeTudo format!

I think they are trying to ride the UFC coattail. Last I seen UFC is up to their 104th big fight. They ARE the organization. Fedor is the only one that could come in and do serious damage. I don't think roid head barnett, alovski or tim silvia can do anything against the HW now.
@judaschongo

@hyeroller25 I assure you piledrivers are very much illegal in ufc under "unified rules" Rampage himself has employed them effectively under the more liberal format of Japan. fully functional? LOL! I couldn't disagree more.

ufc is NOT MMA! with those rules & limitations I just can't believe they have the nerve to call themselves MMA? specially after being exposed to the best promotion this young sport has seen thus far PrideFC! the worst part is they've temporarily succeeded and no one has really complained.

I disagree with Pat Miletich. The UFC being as big as it, and continue to grow in size and support with all the greatest fighters under one banner is great for the sport, great for the fans, but perhaps not the greatest for the fighters as they don't have much leverage on negotiating contracts. The fans do get the fights they truley deserve unlike boxing. Although I've still been waiting on Silva and GSP to fight of 4 years.

@judaschongo it takes no skill or no sort of martial art to kick someone in the head while they are on the ground, so how was pride considered more MMA than the ufc, when u were allowed to do a bunch of stuff that was just random violence? doesnt the MA in MMA stand for mixed martial arts? wheres the martial art in soccer kicks?

@southernprep5 wow.. all the best are in the ufc and the rest are not worthy and scared? seriously? eddie alverez is one hell of a fighter and where is he Bellator and he could give Edgar one hell of a fight and probably beat him. Urijah Faber, if the WEC wouldnt have combined wit the UFC he would still be there. Robbie Lawler- strike force, ill put money that he can beat nearly everyone at middle weight in the UFC.

@AdeptThePhonetic random violence in PrideFC?? there was genuinely more respect in that organization than what U experience here Stateside. Now your bringing up eye gouging?? LOL! Your comparison doesn't hold up under scrutiny! I agree with the proper framework & guidelines of rules; but there's no disputing the more inclusive & realistic format of PrideFC. In MMA ANY kick or punch should be legal; except the obvious fouls: rabbit, groin, spine and yes eye gouging & fish hooking. LOL!

lol Nice try guys. Dana and the Fertittas save the sport when it was on life support and now that there's money in it these guys want to come along and institute sport-wide belts, that would be "above" the UFC belts. Way to try to swoop in on somebody else's hard work and investment. Glad that it failed.
@judaschongo
@judaschongo 13 жыл бұрын
@AdeptThePhonetic potentially there is much more injury under the current ufc format with those awful maiming elbows that cause premature fight compromising gashes without producing clean KO's the vast majority of times. ufc's rules have nothing to do with safety; they're solely there for the protection of their highly marketable fighters & for the entertainment of a reality show minded NON-discerning clientele. ufc is NOT MMA!
@judaschongo
@judaschongo 13 жыл бұрын
@Lyingaboutmyage how could you be so dismissive towards 4point attacks?? they're an integral part of MMA! you've obviously more than bought into this "unified rules" charade promulgated by ufc, commissions & co.

@judaschongo
@judaschongo 13 жыл бұрын
@AdeptThePhonetic you couldn't be more wrong with regards to kicks to a downed opponent & 4point attacks! you've obviously been duped into accepting ufc's watered down version called "unified rules" as gospel. Your entirely missing the point this could mean mixed martial arts or lack there of; in other words this can be open to anyone including someone with no background in standard martial arts; e.g. a street fighter the likes of Tank Abbott.
