@@Joshwaheazo a low point? Do you have any idea how hard if a feat that was? Some can't face one man he faced 5 and won even after being exhausted and punch drunk. When I saw this as a teen I was blown away never before or since has this been done to this magnitude. 2 of those guys were very dangerous men. No one not Holyfield or Tyson or Mayweather Jr none of them could manage this astonishing bouts.

@@russellcampbell3500 You know following a near-death experience in the ring in 1977, Foreman stepped away from boxing to focus on a new life as a Christian minister. Maybe you don't know much about boxing but Foreman was broken when he did this. He didn't return for 10 years in 1987.

@@Joshwaheazo and that has what to do with facing 5 men in one night exactly? Dude go box and come back and let me know if you could do 12 rounds let alone 5 sets of 12. I won my golden gloves at 13 in cape breton n.s. In 87 went to my primaries at 16 and still dabble in the gym to this day. I may not know history of boxing but I know boxing. If you think fighting 5 men is a joke you never had a fight in your life. Sure it’s a carny atmosphere so is every other sporting event. It’s literally considered the most incredible feat in boxing to this day, so one guy don’t like it oh well.

What? Never be mistaken for top fighters? Stop and think about that again, man! They were in the ring with one of the most fearsome fighters of the century, the genuine number one contender who fought Ali. His loss to Ali didn't turn him into a bum overnight. He was still the same man with the same power *and* the genuine desire to redeem himself at least in his own eyes. That's means he wanted to spark those guys out as devastatingly as he could. What he hadn't counted on was their freshness compared to his fatigue. My god, the last fight went the full 12 rounds! Have you ever gone 12 rounds? I've done about 8 or 9 two minute rounds in a sparring session but never 12, and Foreman did it after having FOUR bouts! If those guys were ordinary big men off the street, Foreman would have wiped the floor with them inside 30 seconds each. One punch would knock out most ordinary men (even heavyweights). So don't get these opponents wrong. They were damn good. Remember guys like Chuck Gardner that they got to fight Frank Bruno? With due respect to the man, he was far inferior to all of these opponents. Tyson bowled over a few journeymen in *genuine* bouts and they were guys inferior to these.

I saw this on TV in 1975, I'll never forget it and I never wanted to miss it because of Jerry Judge. He went to Father Judge High School in Northeast Philadelphia. I was there in 9th and 10th grade and Judge had a big reputation, he fought all the time and mostly I can remember him sucker punching people but when he suckered people it was over. Not to mention he went out for football one year and made all Catholic as a wide receiver. He eventually became the police commissioner for Bensalem police department in Bucks County PA.

Ali took his trash talking beyond 'hyping a fight' on more than one occasion. - He harassed Sonny Liston at his own home. - Treated Frazier shamelessly - Encouraged the crowd in Kinshasa to chant 'Ali, Kill him' I have no doubt Ali's gloating contributed to Foreman's post-fight depression. Of course, he has subsequently found faith and forgiven Ali. Ali was a great athlete but he was not always a great sportsman.

Foreman, then the world heavyweight champion, was a heavy favorite to beat Ali, the former champion. But Ali deflected or absorbed Foreman's punches as he leaned against the ropes, allowing Foreman to tire himself out in the tropical heat. He knocked Foreman out in the eighth round for the title. But Foreman, now 58, says something else tired him. In his memoirs he says before the fight, his trainer gave him something to drink that tasted like medicine. "I almost spit it out ... [I told my trainer] 'Man, I know this water has medicine in it,'" Foreman wrote. "I climbed into the ring with that medicinal taste still lingering in my mouth." "After the third round, I was as tired as if I had fought 15 rounds. What's going on here? Did someone slip a drug in my water?" he wrote.
@NilezII

He also had other excuses, like the ropes being too loose, allowing Ali to pull further back to slip punches. Now, you didn't expect Foreman to accept defeat gracefully, did you?

@@NilezII your supposition has no facts - - - Ali famously called Foreman "a Belgian" in Zaire, branding him the enemy in a country ruled by Belgium from 1908 to 1960. His longtime business manager, Gene Kilroy, said he was involved in the scheme. Although Ali was married to his second wife at the time, he married Veronica Porche in a private religious ceremony at Ali's villa in Zaire a week before the fight. Eight days before the scheduled bout, Foreman suffered a cut over his right eye during a sparring session. Bob Goodman, It was Mandunga Bula, a Zaire minister who was the government official supervising the fight. George Foreman's been cut and I'm going to have to reach Don King … to get together and seeing about postponing the fight. During negotiations before the fight, Foreman said, King promised him $500,000 on top of the guaranteed $5 million. At the time of the cut, the $5 million was secured in a bank and due Foreman upon completion of the fight. But he said he had yet to see the $500,000 and realized he suddenly had leverage. "I told (King) if I didn't get my money, my half million dollars, there was not going to be a fight," said Foreman, adding that panicked government officials met with him and King then told him his money could be picked up in London. King said he didn't recall the events Foreman described, but that he would not dispute the story.

@@NilezII BUT DO EPP UP THE POMPOUS CRT babble .... always amusing - - - A History of Don King's Moments ^^^^ 1. Shoots a Man in the Back , when Don King worked as a numbers runner and went by "Donald the Kid" he ran an illegal gambling house in Cleveland. When he walked in on Hillary Brown allegedly robbing the joint, he gunned him down with a Russian revolver. 2. Gets Convicted of Second Degree Murder, When, according to King, one of his employees "ran off with (some) money," King pistol-whipped him and stomped him to death outside a bar in Cleveland. The employee owed $600 and his purported last words were, "I'll give you the money, Don." 3. Steals From a Hospital, Don King organized a charity boxing match featuring Muhammad Ali to benefit Forest City Hospital, an underfunded care center outside King's hometown of Cleveland. On the surface it sounds like a pretty proud moment for the boxing promoter, until you look at the books. On an episode of the ESPN's series SportsCentury Don Elbaum, a fellow boxing promoter, alleged that of the $85K the event made in ticket sales, the hospital received $1500. 4. The Ring Magazine Scandal, In the wake of the '76 U.S. Olympic team winning five gold medals, Don King pitched ABC on the idea of a televised national boxing tournament. In order to bolster the prestige of his event, King allegedly paid The Ring Magazine (an authority on boxing at the time) to falsify the track records and rankings of tournament participants. The controversial tournament became toxic when one of the tournament fighters informed the media that the tournament was rigged for those who had contractual ties to King. He'd go on to explain that he was told he'd lost his next fight before arriving to the venue. More boxers would come forward with allegations of payoffs, leading ABC to cancel the tournament.

Before watching ppl need to remember this done this way by design having Ali as ring side commentator. He’s insufferable and this video doesn’t even include the worst parts haha not by a mile. George was building for the Ali rematch and this was meant to get more hype going. All things considered, Ali probably could have been a lot worse but he ended up getting invested into the fights by #4 1:02 not relevant to the video but just to clarify, Tim Tomashek wasn’t “random”. He knew Tommy’s family and was slick little club journeyman in his own right and was the official backup for the fight. He just didn’t expect to get called up lol

I'll give you a better one if you haven't heard it. Jose Torres was making a comeback after retiring at MSG. His opponent didn't show up for this "main event". Charlie Green was in the audience eating hot dogs and drinking a beer with his girlfriend as a spectator. They asked Charlie to suit up and he did and put Jose down 2x in the first round. Class prevailed as Torres came back in the second to KO Charlie but the bout got charlie another main event at MSG against Floyd patterson.

George Foreman had one tactic: move forward and throw punches. he accuses anyone who doesn't stand still and get hit of "running". Fact of the Ali fight is that Ali landed MANY sharp counterpunches from off the ropes. You get much more "tired" when you're getting HIT.

Not Clay, Ali. He changed his name , don't you remember ? You think he got lucky that night ? I think Ali was lucky , because he was really better than Foreman on Zaire . Even Foreman admited that Ali (ex Clay) was better because Foreman got tired and Ali took the advantage with Rope a Dope and counter attack knocking out Foreman fairly . If Ali got lucky that night like you said , it was thanks to Ali's skills who made him "lucky" ! To get lucky , you have to Work succefully. No Pain no Game

I remember standing by my father as he predicted Ali's victory over Foreman. Everyone else, including my uncles and cousins, was rooting for the formidable George Foreman. The fight against five men was an ugly display of boxing. This display of muscle and manhood, though unpleasant, gave George some of his courage back. I never saw him fight again until the release of his Foreman grill. I believe everyone bought the George Foreman grill. George reestablished himself in the boxing ring with commanding wins and a display of his power, as if it had never left him. What a powerhouse of a boxer! Yes, RIP Mohamed Ali.
