I can highly recommend a plastic scraper to get those little adhesion dots off the bed :) No chance of damaging your plate.

The newest version of bambu studio will let you do mouse ears. It's called "brim ears" it's a button on the right end of the top toolbar.

Another inspiring video. How big are your coasters? They look larger than 4".
@TheMountainMaker
@TheMountainMaker 19 сағат бұрын
I think they are around 3.75”-4”. I try to adjust them to get the most out of the coaster and the print volume but it doesn’t always work that way

I used Printful for a while - their quality control was pretty bad so I stopped using them. I had issues with embroidery like you did and bad digital prints with lots of ghosting. Their production time was inconsistent and sometimes took weeks, which is pretty bad for “print on demand.” I gave up and had a local silk screen shop do my t-shirts and ordered custom patches to use on my own gear. (Printful also discontinued the US-made “dad cap” that I liked 😢 so I had to buy them direct from the manufacturer instead.) Ultimately I gave up selling merch altogether.

Why not consider a filament welder/joiner for the remaining filament spools. Print a winding rig & reload the spools.
@TheMountainMaker
@TheMountainMaker 19 сағат бұрын
I will end up using those last 100g or so in the A1 Mini on my AMS Lite. The normal AMS doesn’t like the lighter spools but the Lite handles them just fine. Then i can use auto refill and use up any remaining filament

I think i just missed it in there. I’m used to Orca but have been migrating things back to Bambu Studio because it’s essentially the same piece of software with a few more limitations but with the impending release of the new firmware if figured it can’t hurt even though i don’t plan on updating immediately

i would recommend you spending a bit more on the Gloop glue for PLA. I know its pricey but it will hold literally forever as it bonds the PLA together, Superglue/ Isocyanic doesnt actually weld them its a bandaid that fails... Also Those tubs are for Business use for sure NOT for personal use... I work for USPS :)

We're a business and bring things down there quite often so the last time I was in there, I asked if I could have a few bins and she said sure, how many. I am interested in trying out some of the 3D Gloop though for these. The dumbbells it would be hard because I need the extra set time of the CA glue to make sure they are lined up correctly and no glue leaks out of the ends but I could design it so there is channel inside I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion!

Just leave the PC on so that its parts stays a consistent heat.
@TheMountainMaker
@TheMountainMaker 18 сағат бұрын
If it was just a cheap pc i probably would but not my other MacBook. She’s a few years old but still a tank. It also gets down to around 10 Fahrenheit or colder in there on a regular basis and the condensation would probably kill it prematurely

Ah yeah a laptop not as good of an idea at all. Maybe a raspberry pi could be an alternative to your MacBook if you don't want it dedicated to that.

I have an X1C with AMS and when the filament on a spool runs out it lets me know. Then I just put a new roll in the same position in the AMS and continue printing. Is that not possible with the A1 mini without AMS? I would think that is possible, so you don't have those "100g left" rolls.
@TheMountainMaker
@TheMountainMaker 14 сағат бұрын
It is, but It saves me from having to be around to swap it out as im not always down there when it runs out, sometimes it’s in the middle of the night, etc. and if it sits too long, the part has time to shrink and the layers don’t line up or there is a small line when it starts printing again

what do you use to make your coasters? petg or pla or ?

@olsonj 16 сағат бұрын
Another question, you mentioned all the yellow spools, does the a1 mini/ai have the same thing as the p1s/x1c where if you have multiple of the same you can have it just use multiple rolls and empty them in that fashion? I know if i get low on a color i can put 2 of the same color on and tell it to start with the lower roll and it will just switch to the next roll once that one runs out.
@TheMountainMaker
@TheMountainMaker 16 сағат бұрын
It does and it works better than the one on the normal AMS for the lighter spools because they don’t come loose or get moved around when doing a filament change.
@TheMountainMaker

I use PLA, but your comment just now has me questioning that. I typically use a coaster for cold drinks to prevent condensation on the wood and what not but i never really considered the hot drinks for some reason. I need to do some tests now to figure out if the PLA will hold up or deform from the hot drinks. Thanks for the question!
@olsonj
@olsonj 16 сағат бұрын
@@TheMountainMaker that's interesting, i have seen people talk about printed inserts for the spools to put weight in them for when they get low... I've ran out numerous spools and i haven't had the problems i've seen people post about, thank goodness.
@olsonj
@olsonj 16 сағат бұрын
@ yea i was thinking that too. And another q, how do the coasters sit on diff surfaces? Are they slip and slide? If so wiuld some felt glued on small pads or cork board feet on bottom help? Just thinking about it

Love your videos, just wanted to say you shouldn't be touching carbon fiber with your hands. I have a microscope and saw myself that a LOT of carbon fibers get stuck in the skin immediately after touching, not even rubbing, and they don't come out after scrubbing with soap and water. And I wouldn't want to breath any in on accident. If you touch CF prints every day at a production level, not good. But I personally don't use CF at all after seeing it under the microscope myself. Only solution imo is using double gloves before painting, and painting isn't something I need, so I just don't use CF. But let me know if you disagree
@MakerBees333
@MakerBees333 19 сағат бұрын
Very interesting, you say ‘Carbon fiber’ but is that printed carbon fiber filament, or the real deal carbon fiber? In filament the fibers are fairly trapped and microscopic to begin with so 🤷‍♂️. I wouldn’t bother with the cost or hassle of wear or tear on my printers for the cf filler. Glass filled filament seems to have better properties, uses glass beads if I needed the added rigidity, but if you have a microscope… I wonder how glass filled would look after a printing touch test. Very interesting!

What brand, filament type and print settings used? Others have tested this and not found anything worth concern; a few other 3d printing youtubers did videos on the subject after nathanbuildsrobots did his, but his integrity is in question since he has a grudge against bambu for being cut off of their influencer program (i.e. no more free printers).
@NoonianSoong403
@NoonianSoong403 16 сағат бұрын
I wrote a detailed comment here answering those questions but KZbin seems to have deleted my comment. I did the same test that Nathan did and had the same results. CF is meant for people who know how to handle it safely. If I ever need to use it, I will use ventilation, thick gloves, and paint or finish
@NWGR

@ Both Dr Igor from mytechfun and TH3D (IIRC) also had some content on the CF filament issue and didn't find anything to be worried about. I'm not saying you didn't, but I just think more testing is needed before we can say definitively that CF filament is dangerous.

There are several videos showing the dangers of carbon fiber filament. The carbon fibers get into your skin, you can pretty easily find it on Nathan Builds robots channel.
