Join Rongo and Mitchell as they travel to Raupunga, one of New Zealand's most “dangerous” communities, to uncover the real story behind the headlines and meet the people who call it home. This is a raw and personal look into a place often misunderstood.

The brother at the end youthworker he is a hero I mean that. If we have more people like him and what he's about in the industry, the future actually has a chance. More great content. Keep up that hard work, big brother 💪 🙌 👏 ❤

Couldn't agree more, the youth of the world really need stronger role models, people who have beat/overcome the demons that others are currently facing and have good stories and experiences to relate as well as guidance.

Massive brother! I grew up in Wairoa in the late 90s early 2000s and this brings back so much memories. I even remember Shamrock too. Man, he was absolute FEARED on the rugby field. He just ran through everything. Everyone was scared to tackle him and he scored every game. Absolutely gut wrenching when he passed. I didn't even know him that well, but it was a shock all over town. Everyone felt it. Anyway, big mihi to you Rongo. Keep up the meke mahi my bro, it's needed! Mauri ora!

I remember driving through Raupunga and stopped by at this very Marae of Te Huki. Then the whare was not built after the it being burnt down. I visited this marae back in the days with my grandparents. Visiting this marae brought back some good memories of Nan and koro. We were not from there. They visited this marae a lot. I wanted to reconnect with the experience and memory. When I arrived I had to get out and open gates which is OK. The whānau in the house below the hill came to see if I was OK, and next min Im in their whare having this huge kapu tī, like i was welcomed home lol boil up came out and next min the rest of the whānau from down the road came. I will never have any bad memories of this place. Raupunga you will have a special part in my heart.

It would be really cool to see some translations or context for some of the terms used here as some things I really don't understand. I'll research it in my own time but I fear I will misinterpret things or hear words wrong when trying to look them up, and I really love to learn about your culture as one of your Aussie neighbours so I wanna get it right =^.^= For example(and sorry if I get things wrong here lol), I'd really appreciate it if someone took the time to explain what "Faro/Fano(okay I think it's Whanau, which might mean family?)" and "Pahaweta", are they groups of people? Awesome work by the way, really cool insight into some of your culture and people and it's also beautiful to see everyone working together and thriving! Thanks for showing us your home and family it means a lot to me. Really keen to keep watching and see what you all make c:
