*Orphanage Update:* We surpassed our goal for the money raised for the orphanage plus enough to keep it running for the foreseeable future in less than 24 hours ($80,000 USD). Orphanage building costs and materials, daily food for 50-60 children, clean drinking water, school fees etc. will now all be taken care of thanks to your overwhelming generosity and response to this campaign. Thanks to all who donated! I personally will be involved in fund transfer instalments, project monitoring and general overseeing of this project to ensure it is carried out in an efficient manner. If you want to see updates of the project in the future, you can stay up to date on my instagram: instagram.com/indigo.traveller/ Your generosity has blown us away and now many children have a better chance at life because of your support. Much love, Nick 🖤

Helping and affecting the world around you isn't Rocket Science and Nick you've just proven that. Thank you so much for contributing your quota to the betterment of these lives and I really hope that one day Makoko would get the right doze of love and attention it deserves. A sane and responsible Government would have turned this large community into an international tourist attraction by now but whatever demon that cursed our leaders must have gone an extra mile. Once again, stay blessed Nick.

I really admire these people. It makes me much more grateful for what I have and puts things into perspective. Great video.
@NorthAyase11 ай бұрын
The children are happy because when you're born into a place every experience you have is built there; everything is normal. If you're a child outside playing with friend you're going to be happy anywhere. The man being interviewed is the chief's son, in comparison to those around him he is in luxury, so he will be in higher spirit. Other people smile when they see clear outsiders (white) because they're a very rare sight, especially in their neighborhood. It's like having a guest over as a kid, except the guest is a celebrity. It's sometimes true that people in these places can often times be happier, but you should keep these things in mind for greater perspective to recognize that you're never truly seeing an unfiltered picture of life.

PLUS, you dont buy money for other exchange rates on the streets. this video host bought most likely counterfeit money at the start. money has a fixed value. this whole video is so fucking NAIVE! you totally understimate how clever/creative these people are. it never came to your mind that these uneducated people could fool you highly educated "adult childs" with no real life experience. i coudl not even blame the africans.. i would do exactly the same. so.. no hate for them.. have fun with your new ps5!

Great comment . I don’t think that Ben Stiller will watch this but I agree it was nice and tactful the way the Chief reminded Ben Stiller . It’s rather sad when extremely wealthy people make promises to a poor community and don’t fulfil that promise . And Ben Stiller wouldn’t have to pay a penny. He could get his PA to organise a charity dinner , tickets sold to Uber wealthy people including his A lister friends . It could easily be sponsored , with raffle tickets , an auction and open donations . Btw , not to be rude but it was a school Ben Stiller said he’d build .

You do realise that the slum is super tiny compared to Lagos? You realise that there are skyscrapers & luxury homes for thousands of kilometers in Lagos but he only chose to show you the tiny slums??? You do realise that the wealthiest black people on earth are Nigerians but he chose to avoid all the luxury but instead chose to show you where illegal immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers live an off-grid slum life??? Unfortunately, most of them who live in the tiny slum started off as refugees, illegal immigrants and asylum seekers living off-grid. The Nigerian government cannot be responsible for their wellbeing and welfare because they are stateless people. Secondly, poverty can never be eradicated on earth. This reminds me of all the poor homeless people i saw in streets of America. There were many people who had no clean water, food, heating, electricity & healthcare? Sadly, poverty is everywhere... Don't get me wrong, I love my country and I'm thankful that I was born in a developed nation, but I feel there's an inherent downside that comes with it in the form of huge social repercussions. My relationship with my neighbours starts and ends with me saying hello to them in the morning, and there's no way I could rely on any of them for help. I asked my neighbours if they would file a police statement for me after they had witnessed someone scrape up against my car. Unfortunately I never saw it so I couldn't say who it was, although two of my neighbours saw it and told me they knew who was driving the other car. They said they would, so I called the police about it and told them my neighbours saw it - Police returned after a few minutes of talking to them with the bad news that they allegedly never saw anything. Very common behaviour here because no one wants to give a few hours to a courtroom for someone else, although the story would be different if it was them or their family that needed it.

Being from New Zeland just like this gentleman and also being well travelled It amazes me that I never thought to document my journeys also, So much help and awareness can be raised and given through such platforms, I remember giving a man in Thailand 40nzd as a tip, The man cried and told me it was 4 months salary, a thought that never even crossed my mind untill he mentioned it. The Divide is Huge, I wont go into detail what else he said but I will say that my perspective on the world changed dramatically, If you.ever get the chance I emplore you, TRAVEL ! But! Be humble and generous, it will change your LIFE.

I agree . It’s very good to travel . A lot of tourists want to see the ‘culture’ and that’s basically having a tour one afternoon and observing how poor people live . It’s very condescending . It’s of course is different from this You Tuber’s visit . He’s been very informative . He’s also respectful towards the locals and extremely helpful by raising money for the orphans . Understandably people don’t have the opportunity this Creator has . However, humility and respect for our fellow human beings goes a long way .

The sad and ironic fact is that most of these young men will gladly lay down with a women an impregnate her and bring newborns who have no say, into their extremely desperate, poor struggling existence where the more you breed the worse it gets, as competition for jobs and resources and space becomes cutthroat and fierce in a dog eat dog world. Keep your pecker in your pocket if you cannot offer a stable healthy life for the one's you cannot afford to support in the first place. This planet offers the uneducated and low I.Q sheep a very pathetic life in this corporate slave class society. Man is such a selfish blind fool that is so out of balance with nature, that they pollute, consume most critical essential resources needed for survival and cry for help to the rest of the world who are slowly being sucked into the same fate by the overbreeders, immigration and massive pollution that ends up altering the normal biological functions that were intended to give us a optimal life. That is why we need billions of soldiers and hundreds of billions in weapons to kill each other off so the winner gets to live another day or so. Dog eat dog and only the rich and strong survive Our super rich elite global masters have a very sadistic agenda in play that will help on a large scale population reduction, in order to try to save the planet and to give the survivors a fighting chance to survive a few decades more before mother earth spits us out like yesterdays cherry pit. But all you selfish fools who have money are far too blind to understand the dismal outlook of most or our futures. Your money and technology will not save you. IF your rich enough you can hide underground in a lavish city or bunker and let the rest of us die. Hundreds of millions have been slaughtered in the past by their own government and foreign armies along with starvation, disease, and drought. Then after the bodies were buried. the cock roaches spread out from other empires and set up shop as they plot their next target nation or territory. The super rich hire the strong to do the dirty work and invade, kill, pillage and rape and its all legal if your government gives you permission. The more you feed the more they breed and this planet has already been used up and abused to the point that we have no chance to survive another 40 years as the weather ravaged overheating dying planet is showing us who is boss, as the major armies of the world prepare for battle. Enjoy your last days. The rich can run and hide and lay low for decades as the peasants meet their fate. We have wiped out over 900 species and countless ecosystem and polluted the air, land and water beyond repair. But mother earth will get the last laugh. Humans are the virus and nuclear war is the cure. What ethnic race will get wiped out next, like the dozens before. Millions are starving and dying from tainted water and living outdoor in the elements. Man was God's biggest mistake and is not man enough to take responsibility for man's greedy, evil, selfish, sadistic ways. So I guess its the devils fault. Sounds like something our politicians would say. You live in a world of have's and have nots. Slavery is alive and well as the rich get richer and the slaves wait for their next crumb.

It’s interesting to look into the complex conditions behind the poor economic situation in most third world countries. After independence, the former colonial powers divided and conquered the former colonies and inserted their own dictators whom they showered with money/ support as long as the dictators allowed them to smoothly exploit each country’s natural resources. Whenever the puppet leaders stopped adhering to the wishes of the Western oligarchs, there are “foreign interventions” that put each neocolony back under the rule of a compliant puppet. This is done openly, and the 1st world countries have found it more effective to govern via puppet proxies than maintaining a colonial garrison force to govern directly. The Western oligarchs dupe their publics into fighting wars overseas for their benefit. In the past this was called the “white man’s burden” but now it’s called “freedom and democracy”. The Western oligarchs have installed a compliant governing class in Nigeria which allows their companies to exploit the oil without paying much in royalties. The ruling class keeps the oil flowing, and this is all that matters to the Western oligarchs.
