Their leader is a great person, my heart melted when he said Education is what they needed. Once they get an education it's ok with him if they will leave. Thinking for his community to have a better life than thinking of power. He is so selfless he's amazing! I hope one day Makoko will be a better community.

African leaders are deceptively good at making speechesthat can move the masses . Our former President , R.G Mugabe (a dictator and corrupt president) was the Guru , when it came to those kind of speeches . A good number of leaders here are just wolves in sheep's clothing .

This floating village is GOLDEN. Beautiful culture and delicious seafoods. If the government cleaned up the environment, keep the beautiful community there and provide the children education, this floating village will become the BEST major tourist attraction for the country. Also this is the best foods show of all; the video speaks for itself. Thank you Sonny for showing us many hidden gems in the world.

No, do not make it a tourist destination. Once that happens local industry and culture leaves, and hoards of tourists occupy the place instead. Not trying to be politically correct, but that would ruin the town. Many places in NA and Europe can attest.

You are eating, helping each other, protecting each other, uplifting each other. You are not poor. Poor people have no resources and no love. This is simply a community that is not materialistic, which is GOOD! Once you are shown greed, materialism, selfishness, you realize the better life was this one....all that is needed is trash removal, little bit of hygiene upgrade. When i got my first house, i wondered why my mother's house never had the inch thick gray dust on the baseboards that mine did...it's cuz she scrubbed them every other week! I never saw that part. So the upkeep of surroundings is just a valuable as the procurement!!

@@ayomidebright6052 I think we all try to make our lives better and there is nothing wrong with doing that. But we should also remember to appreciate what we have in our present lives. I think our definition of success needs to be based on the good we have done to help our fellow man, and not hurt him. I try to always be nice to others, and smile, and say hi to others. I think the problem is that people in the world today see being nice as a vulnerability, or as trying to compensate for something, or as someone that can be pushed around or taken advantage of. You would understand what the simpler life brings. Also rememeber most of the 3rd world countries have violence or wars because of what the 1st World countries do... But also imagine how 3rd world countries feel when they see us 1st world countries queuing up outside mental health clinics because we don't 'earn enough' 'don't feel successful' it will create anguish in these 3r world countries and create hatred. We now have enough food to supply the whole earths people... Yet 1 in 3 humans die of hunger.....imagine what that does to these poverty striken people. Get off tht fuking high horse, picturing all of us lucky sods out on the weekends dancing and drinking... Sat in coffee shops smiling away...doing or sorts of leasure activities... Right! One can tell he just wants the best for his people. Born and raised in Nigeria and I had no idea how bad this community is. Smh

I must say- every video I watch on this channel transports me to the place that Sonny goes! I absolutely love the kindness and sincerity that he shows to the people, and his openness to culture and food. Have a great time and stay safe wherever you happen to go, thanks for sharing.

I appreciate this video! It’s not just another travel or food video but it highlights some real issues and brings up good topics of discussion 🙌💯

This ia by far the best food review show ever. When he said, "The only time the government needs us is in time of election" I felt that. 😭

That is so true in Africa. Even now during the lockdown when so many people didn't get good and people are hungry, One minister said its not the duty of government to feed people.

That village can easily become a tourist attraction vs. being considered an eye sore. Beautiful people.

Yeah, i think so too. It only needs to be clean to have cleaner water and also waste management is needed and boom..

The issue is that I’d hate to see it go the way of Hawaii, a vibrant and beautiful culture turned into a resort for those who can afford it. Money should flow into the community not replace it.

thats exactly what i thought too, eye sore? it looks beautiful to me minus the floating garbage that came from elsewhere. would be interesting to see what those people will make if they're given the materials, they look very resourceful, creative and hard working.

Well it sounds like that's what they want to make it,but without the people. Seems like they are doing everything to make it look bad,so they can have an excuse to tear it down and remove the people. Then they can bring in some rich bloke to buy it and make money off it.
