Inside No.9 S5 Ep6 Review Spoilers | THE STAKEOUT

hI- clues I found - includes spoilers 1. Varney (Reece's character) asks Thompson (Steve's character) to let him in to car on several occasions 2. Varney says he is a 'flexitarian' who eats meat (ie drinks blood) once a month- he attacked Dobson (the ex partner) a month before the events of the episode 3. Varney hates the smell of garlic in the curry 4. Varney does not want to cross the bridge (over the running water) during the chase 5. Varney talks about being 'dead to the word' during the day when Thompson asks him if he can sleep during day 6. Varney shows unnatural strength when he rescues Thompson during the shoot out which Thompson comments on (he also does not get 7. Varney says he does not drink alcohol 8. Varney talks about being 'too long in the tooth' to be promoted 9. It could be said that Varney's concern about Thompson's blood pressure/blood sugar levels is to ensure he will be suitable when the time comes to feed (someone i kmow pointed out that Varney handing Thompson the 'teabag' to warm his hands was to improve his circulation !) Possibly also he does not get the riddle about the coffin (Varney was also the name of a vampire from Victorian fiction) There may possibly be more but hope interesting Personally I read and enjoyed this episode as a metaphor for how men interact and bond (hope that makes sense!) and an interesting use of both police and vampire tropes (plus Steve and Reece wrote it in a few days at short notice). Did like the photography and Christian Henson's score too If you do not know already- the show has been commissioned for two more series Thank you for discussing the show each week- have greatly enjoyed hearing what you thought of the episodes

Hints at him being a vampire: 1. The title "The STAKEout" 2. He hates the curry and won't directly touch the box because of the garlic 3. He says he hardly sleeps and is always awake at night 4. He got all of the riddles right except for the coffin one because "the one who uses it doesn't know he's using it" wouldn't make sense to a vampire because he's fully aware he's using it 5. They are working a night shift, aka "the graveyard shift" A few I picked up on :) Though I did like the twist and the hints leading up to it, I wasn't a fan of how it didn't feel like there was a particular reason for killing Steve Pembertons character.

Vooligan don’t forget that Steve had to let Reece in, similar to how Vampires need to be invited in and Reece tells Steve not to go over the bridge when they’re going to the docks because vampires can’t go over running water

Full of clues this one, I loved this episode. I like most of Inside no 9 episodes .
