Traffic is bad in that area, and the Mets need more parking space. NYCFC should have thought about having a multipurpose stadium 90,000 capacity with a retractable roof at Belmont Park or Aqueduct Park. Both locations has more land and parking space along with mass transit as well accessibility to highways. Maybe the Jets or Giants or both could be a tenant.

Affordable housing is a pie in the sky dream . That train left the station in 2010 when stuff was relatively affordable. The cost to build anything in 2024 is anything but affordable regardless of whether it’s a union labor force or not. My guess is it’s likely the former.

Even the biggest cities have similar sized soccer stadiums, mainly because of how easy they are to build, if a team has a bigger stadium, that's usually because it's also an NFL/CFL stadium. I should also mention that even other sports' stadiums size typically doesn't have much to do with city size, especially in the US and Canada.

Apple gave them a better deal. It’s 250 million per year but if MLS grows much more popular there are incentives in place that would see MLS get substantially more than just the $250 Million, potentially up to $500 Million per year if they achieve a certain level of viewership

Wish apple made a doc on this from nasl to MLS the rise of soccer in America the hunt family kraft and others who helped in both leagues could be interviewed.

If it is right next to Citi Field where the NY Mets baseball team play, it has its own subway stop. The Mets Willets Point station. You can take the subway on the 7 train or take a Long Island Rail Road train from Penn Station for $5 and it also stops on the Mets Willets Point station.
