The thing about the Furlough scheme was that it was being called for weeks before it was announced, people were already being let go and made redundant at least 2 weeks before it was announced to be happening, just like late lockdown the Tories waited until the horse had already bolted from the stable.

Big difference between Corbyn and Jamie Driscoll, Jamie Driscoll isn't actually that well known or liked in North East. He only polled closed in a coupe of wards within Newcastle City Council, the rest was Labour by considerable margins. Corbyn does have the profile to run it close or win but like Ava said there is a big difference

Fun fact, I resigned my Conservative Party membership (which I secretly bought as the best chance to vote Boris out) when Boris made the connection between Starmer and Saville in PMQs and the tory MPs (with very few exceptions) backed him. It was then that I realised the party was unsalvageable.

@@jonsmith5058 Well, maybe salvage is too positive a word. I live in a very safe Labour seat, so my vote in a general election is more-or-less irrelevant. The only way I could influence the Tory government was to join the Tory party, and at least then I'd get a say on who the leader was. Unfortunately I resigned before the Truss vs Sunak vote, so I had no say in that. I actually quite like Sunak, we need more nerds in government. Starmer fits that bill quite nicely too though.
